Great pen, tricky setup
This pen is amazing! Writes smoothly, looks sleek, and isn't too expensive. Also makes for a great gift. If you're looking for a first fountain pen look no further. However something to note is that this thing runs through ink quick if you write as much as I do (school class work and homework). An ink cartridge will maybe last 4-5 days, but it's definitely not anything bad about the pen that's just how fountain pens work. Just wanted to let those know who think the pen would last any longer. If you're buying this, buy a pack of cartridges (must be from Pilot or it won't work). Something to note is when you first get your own you're probably wondering what to do with it. The instructions aren't clear at all. So, to get started you have to open the pen, and unscrew the part where the black handle meets the shaft of the pen. After that you'll be greeted by some soft material. Pull that out by squeezing the metal and pulling. Insert the ink cartridge and press down until you hear a pop, or until the ink suddenly shifts lower. After that give the cartridge a nice squeeze and you're good to go.

Great Introduction to Fountain Pens
Almost on a whim, I decided to try writing with fountain pens. My initial research brought me to the Pilot MR because of the quality and price point. This pen is a dream to write with. I'm left-handed, and it work great for me. I use it to take notes, and I have been able to write a lot in cursive without experience hand-cramping fatigue that lefties often suffer from due to a tight grip. The pen is stylish and has a nice weightiness to it without being heavy. I use the ink cartridge it came with. It goes pretty fast, so I quickly ordered replacement cartridges, which are very affordable. I can't wait to experiment with ink colors, especially since this pen came with a converter. I plan on purchasing other pens from different brands, mainly to try out different nibs, but many of them have cartridges sold separately. I'm so happy that my first experience with a fountain pen is very positive.

Decent Pen
I lost my favorite Waterman pen, and I'm not so excited about my Schaffer, so I bought this. It's a good, serviceable fountain pen for everyday use. It is much nicer than a ballpoint and a really good price. The medium nib is fine (as in narrow) by my standards, but I'm not sure a larger option is available to buy with the pen. I am not using the enclosed bladder, but rather Waterman mini cartridges because I like the colors.

Smooth, great fountain pen with perfect weight for writers
I wouldn't change one thing about this pen. This was my introductory fountain pen (I have calligraphy pens or non-cartridge fountain pens) and I love love this. The weight is perfect for the person who likes to write and FEEL like they are writing. This has such a nostalgic feel to it with the modern day ink cartridge that can easily be changed out. I love the sound of the tip on my paper as I am writing and the right pen has the right feel to it. Way to go Pilot! Now a couple things about fountain pens to be aware of if this is your first ever cartridge pen. Tips break if you drop the pen on it's tip. I haven't broke one yet but I have on calligraphy pens and feather fountain pen , these tips are made of the same composite. So be gentle with your pen. Also, don't store tip down, the ink will leak and it makes for a mess not just on the base but in the cap. I like to put the cap on the end of the pen to affirm a nice weight while writing but an ink filled cap makes for a messing pen end then fingers. Best to store tip up. Otherwise, have fun with how it feels and it's smooth writing.

CON-70 converter does not fit!
A WARNING to fellow users: Unfortunately, Amazon currently has inaccurate information on converters for Pilot Metropolitan and MR fountain pens. CON-70 converters DO NOT FIT these pens! Good news is that Pilot CON-40 and CON-50 do fit. (If you use these converters and plan to leave a pen unused for more than a few days, I recommend storing them in an air tight container such as a ziplock sandwich bag as the ink tends to dry out). In my hands, this is a wonderful fountain pen. I own Pilot Metropolitan fountain pens with both fine and medium nibs and prefer medium for writing at home and fine point for taking notes. I have also used Lamy fountain pens (my experience is entirely with lower cost fountain pens). The Metropolitans are my favorites, as they write smoothly especially for manuscript which I prefer to use (as opposed to longhand which I've stopped using).

Eye of the Pilot MR Tiger
I love this pen. Pilot makes great pens ranging in price from under a dollar to $1000ish dollars. I am a writing instrument enthusiast but I am not a pen elitist. And for my money, this pen offers great value. 1. It’s made in Japan by Pilot. 2. It’s made out of brass not plastic. All of the MR Animal and Pop Metropolitans are cool looking. I have each of my Metros inked with different ink. In this one, Waterman Intense Black. It came with a bladder converter which I’m not a super fan of so I replaced it with a Pilot con-40. Once I filled it I began to write with it, after all that’s what pens are for. I’m about 15 college ruled spaced pages in and I keep falling in love with it. I wrote in a Moleskine and an Amazon notebook as well as copy paper and card stock and a hundred year old school notebook. Considering when the inspiration happens I have written on paper towels and or napkins with giveaway pens, any paper is fancy paper, but with this pen even the cheapest copy paper is a joy to write on. Way to go Pilot.

Decent converter will cost more (and common converters won't fit)
Converter Adaptability requires Pilot Con-70 or IC-100 and common converters from my other fountain pens don't fit. I couldn't find anything searching Amazon for Pilot Con-70 or IC-100, but I did find several Con-40 adapters (but this converter wasn't listed as compatible so I can't be sure it would work). I didn't expect to see such incompatibility. Needless to say, I regret buying this pen.

Poor packaging.
The packaging was a 2 out of 10. Damage continued into the pen case. The pen itself I believe survived. Will need to test it.

This pen is an extraordinary value! Most fountain pens at this price range are absolute trash, with very low durability. However, Pilot has managed to create a compelling pen at this kind of price range that is really a step above its competitors. I have bought both the medium and fine nibs, and would highly recommend that one purchases the fine nib over the medium nib. The writing is very smooth, and excellent ink flow. Because of this pen's price range, Pilot is able to offer a variety of pen designs and colours, which makes finding the perfect pen for anyone a breeze and a joy. I've already purchased two of these pens, and I use different coloured inks for both. I'm very happy with my purchases and would recommend them to anyone who wants to get into fountain pens. They are very user-friendly.

I love Pilot Metropolitan. It's an amazing pen for a very reasonable price. This color looks really nice, and the pattern is really good-looking. The body of the pen is somewhere between glazed and matte, with a really nice feeling to it. Highly recommend it!
