AMS stands for American Music and Sound, still the same CAD M179 model.

Q: Does anyone use this type of microphone for an audience microphone for live events?

There's no reason why you couldn't. I offers omnidirectional and figure 8 pickup patterns.

Q: Does this come with any cords?

It does not. You need to buy xlr cables separately. I recommend Pig Hog cables!
