Customer Service is spectacular
Came missing parts so my son sent me the ones needed and the company sent them pronto. All was a relief as you cannot put it together without the parts. It is not really for younger children unless an enthusiastic adult helps. It is a bit complicated.

My kiddos love this stem toy.
My kiddos loved building this hedgehog, great stem learning toy. Worth every penny.

Hard to determine cause of problems
All parts must be snipped out of a plastic frame. There is one early point where you connect the battery and control module to test the gears. There is no further test until you are done. When you are done and the gears make a strange noise it is difficult to take apart to fix. I still do not know why mine does not work after taking it apart many times. There was also one bracing rod that did not seem to fit without cutting and glueing. This definitely has nothing to do with my problem.I would like to see more explanation about the design and how everything works with just a forward and reverse of the motor. It may help to determine what would cause certain problems.REVISED: I finally got it to work. It needs a smooth floor and will flip on its side on a rug. I think it just took a while for the gears to turn smoothly.

Assembling something doesn't mean learning robotics. Also, it BREAKS.
This was a last-minute purchase for Christmas and I foolishly ignored the reviews saying it was hard to assemble because I figured I would "help" my son. Please see & heed all reviews about what a PITA this is to assemble. It's not "challenging" or a learning experience. It's BUSY WORK. Yes I was able to do it. Yes the instructions are clear enough -- for a adult. Kudos to the tech writers. But will a kid learn how the mechanics actually function or be able to experiment with differing gear arrangements? No. This is, once built, done. And once it's built, parts fall out (we especially the two big metal cylinders in the head which don't snap into place) making it dangerous, and most importantly: The thing doesn't really respond to the claps as stated. If you want a robot toy that responds to noise commands, but one pre-made -- THIS IS NOT IT. If you want a project that kids can do that will teach about mechanics and offer the opportunity to use imagination and problem-solving, THIS IS NOT IT either. Honestly, find an old toy and take it apart rather than buying this.UPDATE: Even after assembly, he hedgehog falls apart. Parts don't snap into place -- they are lose and fall out. Currently, without one tiny pin, a leg is lost. A plastic strip that stretches when the hedgehog curls up has snapped. This is from one day of regular use. And It NEVER flipped over. It is assembled 100% correctly. If anyone reading reading this just thinks those of us who struggled with it are dumb or have dumb kids, check yourself please. The thing is poor quality.

Nephew LOVED it.
We gave this to our Nephew in 2020, and I went over to his home this week and he brought it out and showed me all the things it can do. It has lasted over a year of playing with weekly. He let me know it was a fun gift as he was able to work with dad and build in a new way and do some coding. Great job! Great Value, and his smile was priceless.

Broke down almost immediately upon finished assemble!
Not too happy! Gift for granddaughter - assembled but did not work.

Got one day of play
So this was extremely complicated to put together theres no way an elementary aged child is putting this together with any level of independence. It worked great for less than 24 hours and now is broken and won't work. My son is now devastated since this was his gift from Santa and it took a month of weekends to assemble.

Nice toy but breaks easy
Bought as a gift for my daughter, she was so excited. After spending over an hour to build it, she finally got to play with it. Not the easiest control, you clap to make it work. After the first day the peg that holds the gear that drives the wheels broke. Now I spent a hour trying to find a way to fix it then the button that turns it on and off isn't working right. Daughter isn't happy with it anymore because it keeps breaking. If it would work without breaking it would be a great toy but as is, it is only ok.
