depends on your phone service
Okay, I have two issues. One big and one small. IF you want the call blocker to NOT ring at all when a blocked caller calls, and you use Vonage, you have to connect the box between your phone modem and your wireless phone base, but when you do this you don't get the ID display on your extensions. (at least my AT&T wireless phones didn't). That was kind of a drag because part of the whole point of buying this box was to stop ALL unwanted ringing, so now my phones ring once when a blacklisted caller calls, then the call is dumped. (both the base and the box are plugged in to a double outlet) Alright, so I gave them that one, BUT the other thing the box does is arbitrarily locks up where I cannot review my calls or anything. I have to unplug it, let the display fade away completely, then plug it back in and it unlocks and lets me review my calls for deletion or blacklisting. I'm afraid the idea of the box is great, but the software and/or hardware is weak and worth about 1/4 of what I paid for it. Supposedly it has all the "latest" updates or something. it still is nice because its better than nothing I suppose.

Works for me!
Based on my personal experience, the negative opinions on this product are shear NONSENSE!!!!!First of all.....the requirement is that you need the Caller ID service to be activated from your phone company. It will NOT work without this Caller ID service activated.Secondly.....the battery compartment is NOT to be used....per the instructions. My old Caller ID device uses batteries which is a waste of money. This unit does not use batteries which is a savings. The unit gets its power from the phone line and doesn't require batteries.Third....the unit is basically a Caller ID device that allows you to flag phone numbers for a Black List.Like a Caller ID unit, it displays date, time, day and other data. When you have a number that you don't want calling you again, you simply push the Black List button and it's done. The Good: It works, period! The bad: By the time it compares your Black List against your Caller ID number.... your phone rings once (in my case) and it cuts them off!!!!If the phone didn't ring at all, I would have given it 5 stars. Thanks for peace of mind from unwanted phone calls at a resonable price.UPDATE 9/27/12:Using an old GE Caller ID stand-a-lone module, I successfully passed thru the Caller ID of an incoming call to 2 different cordless phones. I am unable to do this with the Call Blocker module.I then set up the GE unit to pass thru to the Call Blocker unit with success, BUT.....the Call Block would NOT pass thru the Caller ID info of the incoming call to neither of my cordless phone systems.Based on my 2 different cordless phone systems.....this Call Blocker can not pass thru Caller ID incoming info to the Caller ID screens on cordless phones. If you're having any luck with pass thru on cordless, please let me know how and what cordless phone system you're using.Aside from that, I'm willing to live with the one ring before cutoff by splitting the line to the phone and the Call Blocker separately.UPDATE 10/19/12:I'm now running parallel cordless phone systems. One from the Call Blocker with the ringer ON and the other phones from the wall outlet with the ringers OFF...except for one phone. If the call is blocked, you won't here any rings from the phone connected to the Call Blocker and you'll only hear one ring from a distant parallel phone in an other room (bedroom) connected from the wall. If the call is not blocked, you'll hear the phone ring from the Call Blocker phone('s) and your distant phone. On the other cordless phone from the wall outlet (and your satellite phones connected to this phone), you'll see the Caller ID info displayed (where it is not displayed on the phone connected to the Call Blocker). The bottom line: You'll hear the rings from one phone system (Call Blocker pass thru) but you'll see the Caller ID info on another phone system connected to the wall outlet. No sense paying for Caller ID if you're not using it as it was intended.Works for me and gives peace of mind from wrong number telemarketers. If you have a cordless phone where the Caller ID info is passed thru the Call Blocker unit to the phone, let me know the brand.Thanks.

Worked for About A Month, Then Started Interfering With DSL Signal
Update (10/22/14):------------------I now use a different call blocker which I am quite satisfied with. It is theΒ SENTRY Dual Mode Call Blocker. Block 100% Robo Calls. Stop All Junk Calls, Election Calls, Survey Calls. 9999 Number Capacity Also, I no longer have a DSL connection (I now use cable internet). The Sentry works fine for my setup.Update (4/9/13):----------------I decreased my inital rating from 4 stars to 2 stars. I was satisfied initially as the blocker was working and I enjoyed it automatically hanging up on saved calls. But today, I noticed the blocker interfereing with my DSL connection. The indicator on my router/dsl modem showed not working when the device was into a phone line. As soon as I removed the device, the indication was all good.I'm not sure why the problem wasn't showing up when I first both it. But the bottom line is now with my DSL service, I really can't use this device and I'm back to having to call screen on my answering machine all the marketing calls.Original Review Follows:------------------------One and Done, Not Perfect - But Better Than Nothing---------------------------------------------------After reading the various reviews, I think how effective the Call Blocker works is hit or miss depending on how the phone provider sends the caller id signal to the line. For me, the Call Blocker helps, but isn't a complete solution.I think a complete solution would suppress (no ring) calls that are blacklisted, yet allow caller ID information to pass through for regular, non-blacklisted calls. For my particular phone set up, I have a digital answering machine and one caller ID phone. I tried connecting the Call Blocker in series (Call Blocker to line, then to answering machine which connects to phone) but by doing so, some calls not on my blacklist coming in did not show up on my caller ID, but only showed "Calling". I then connected in parallel (use of splitter). With in parallel connection, all caller ID information shows up, but for callers on my "Blacklist", the phone rings once before the Call Blocker hangs up on the call. I would have preferred first ring suppression, but at least hang up after one ring is still better than nothing.Pros:----- device does help control telemarketing calls- blacklist holds a generous 1500 amount of calls- no batteries requiredCons:----- for me, in series connection may not show caller id for regular callers; in parallel connection allows one ring even on blacklisted numbers- device only stores numbers, not names even if you have caller id and name service- descriptions misleading: unlike picture, no backlighting; box says 5 LCD contrast levels when there are only 4- similar buttons can be confusing. Blackist button same shape and next to Remove button (I used a black marker to put a dot on the blacklist button for better identification)Overall, the Call Blocker device does help control telemarketing calls. I'd prefer no ring with blacklisted calls, but the one ring then hang up is acceptable.I figure, with 1500 numbers available to store on my blacklist, if I average having to block about 4 telemarketing calls a day, the memory won't get full until about a year. By that time, maybe the telemarketers will have moved on and I'll erase the blacklist and start over.In the meantime, with each "one ring then hang up", I'll smile and say "Zap! Another telemarketing call bites the dust!"Update (03/15/2013): Saved by Non-Volatile Memory--------------------------------------------------I came home today and took off my coat then went to check the caller ID on this device. When I pressed on an arrow...Zap!!..a static charge reset the device. The device turned totally blank and required unplugging of the line chord and plugging back in to restart. Then, I noticed the Year and Day/Time was reset so I had to re-enter. But luckily, all the telemarketing calls which I stored are still all there. Thanks to the non-volatile memory none of these numbers disappeared.

Wrong phone sockets
This only has the small american style phone ports (the ones you see with routers and the like). No idea if the product actually works because I will need to buy a british>american adaptor for connecting the phone to the device and an american>british adaptor for connecting the device back to the phone line.
