Hello Hello: The Best of Claudine Longet

This album is great for late night listening. I have heard several Longet albums .However this is br far the best. oh boy what a voice that breathy sound will send you into spasms. Sit down with a glass of wine put your feet up and be transported into another galaxy.I have loved this girl for many years and conclude what a lucky boy Andy Williams was and what an idiot in loosing her. However this collection of songs on this album are superb and come highly recommended by myself.Go on buy it you will love it.

Any performer's "Best of" collection is a matter of opinion. I do like every one of Claudine's songs that appear on this CD. However, there are a few of her songs that do not appear on this recording that, in my opinion, would be a better representation of her best work. That said, this collection would be an excellent choice for anyone looking to own a wide representative sample of her work without buying every album that she ever made. The quality is excellent and you will enjoy it if you decide to purchase this collection.

All songs in this album are so warm...Claudine's performance is almost fantastic...I like it very much..

Claudine brought many a fantasy to young men with her will-of-the-wisp voice, but really she was quite weak vocally. This is the best of many CD's available.

I have always loved Claudine. So glad I could find her on cd and reasonably priced.

Have searched for a long time for Caudine Longet cd. She was a real talent and this cd brings back many memories. I own a recording studio and spent almost 30 years in broadcasting and was concerned about the quality of an older cd, but was pleasently suprised by the great quality of the cd. You'll love it!

I was hoping to find songs taken from previous recordings (on other records). What I got is a short walk down memory lane of clipped versions with overdubbed loud instrumentals. One more regift!Paul

ずいぶん昔に「HURRY ON DOWN」というタイトルの「レコード」を買いました。それは１２曲入りLPで、1 HURRY ON DOWN 2 BOTH SIDES NOW 3 HOLIDAY 4 I LOVE HOW YOU LOVE ME 5 SUNRISE SUNSET 6 SCARBOROUGH FAIR7 LOVE IS BLUE 8 A MAN AND A WOMAN 9 SOMETHING 10 LOOK OF LOVE 11 THE END OF THE WORLD 12 LET IT BE MEという素晴らしい選曲でした。今はそんなすごい内容の「CD」は売られていないようです。しかし、このCDには「黒いオルフェ」のテーマの「カーニバルの朝」が入っているのです！最高です。

Many years ago I purchased an album by the beautiful Claudine Longet entitled "Good Day Sunshine" and I looked around for other LP`s without success. Now I have 25 more tracks to enjoy. Her sensuous whispered tones gives old favourites a totally new dimension. One in particular is the old Nellie Lutcher song "Hurry On Down".Let me reproduce an extract from the liner notes of this CD "Conveying more with her frothy, French accented whisper than most vocalists ever communicate with a scream, Claudine Longet enraptured the world with her exotic hushed elegance, soft breathy vocals, and undeniable radiance."Time has not diminished the quality of this album, I am very impressed.

De Claudine Longet, je ne connaissais que son rôle dans le désopilant film de Blake Edwards " The party " (1968) avec bien sûr le génial Peter Sellers, et cette histoire dramatique qui se passa le 21 mars 1976 où le champion de ski Wladimir Spider Sabich perdit la vie. Cette très jolie chanteuse à la voix fluette et gracile a donc participé à cette compilation en 2005, après ce long silence. Claudine n' a effectivement pas plus de voix que Françoise Hardy ou notre Première Dame italienne. Le miracle tient à une orchestration pleine d' inventivité où cordes, percussions et instruments à vent sont d' une légèreté et d' une délicatesse qui s' harmonisent avec sa voix doucereuse et insouciante. Du "easy listening" le plus pur qui soit, pas de cri, pas de douleur, que de la futilité jouissante. Dans ses vingt-cinq titres, on peut y trouver des reprises de l' inévitable Burt Bacharach "The Look of Love", du Francis Lai avec bien entendu "A Man and a Woman", du Joni Mitchell du début "Both Side Now", deux chansons de Randy Newman "I Think It's Gonna Rain Today" et "Snow", une reprise de "Everybody's Talkin'" popularisé par Harry Nilsson pour le film " Macadam Cowboy " (1969) de John Schlesinger, ou du Carlos Jobim que vous apprécierez même si vous êtes comme moi un peu allergique à la bossa nova.
