For years we looked for a mediation bench that was solid, not foldable, and didn't look like is was made in a middle school wood shop. We wanted a real piece of furniture that we felt confident sitting on for long periods of time. We found it! Handmade using sustain-ably grown acacia wood, each piece is upholstered by professional furniture makers.

Amazing Bench! Everybody on the stream should own one
You know, my ego was attatched to sitting on a cushion for a while... for some reason i thought it was “better” or more “authentic”... But once thise silly notions went away I decided to try one of the meditation benches at my temple... and as expected they are extremely comfortable when compared to a buckwheat zafu... It wven feels like cheating too... hahaha that’s still just part of my notions ... but anyway, this bench is amazing! It doesn’t only have 2 sizes, you can really rock it a little bit and get any height imaginable... I use it regular when not on zabuton and on the High mode when on zabuton... otherwise my feet would get crushed if I didn’t have that option! And it’s not a rough slanted plank... it’a nice and rounded and it locks into position... very stable! And when I do my Sutra Study I use it as my little table and sit on a cushion! (See pictures) If you are looking for a meditation bench aeriously look no further... this one rocks... If you are looking to enhance your meditation experience... aomething more comfortable and more stable than a buckwheat zafu. Than please try this bench! If your legs hurt and distract you from your practice this is the best option... I also recommend memory foam zafu’s rather than the traditional buckwheat, I always slide down with the buckwheat ones... very unstable. But yes, very happy with this bench! High quality, looks good, feels good... amazing!

Beautiful, sturdy, comfortable!
This meditation bench is not only beautiful to look at, it is sturdy and makes my meditaion session quite comfortable.I'm 5 foot 9 with severe fibromyalgia and this bench is perfect for my height.Ive meditated for years but with my fibro its been difficult with a zabuton safu combo because of my knees hurting so bad. I was introduced to a bench the other day and found this one for a great price.I have to use the high side of the legs for my height so my ankles will fit under the bench. The legs have two heights low and high. This bench has made my meditation sessions painless and comfortable, plus its nice how you spine instantly alignes perfectly once you sit down.I reccomend this bench. It's great!

Some have claimed that suffering is not required for enlightenment. This works for me both as a posture aid and an aesthetic object. Costs some money, but what the hell. Won't last forever, but will most likely outlast you. Just don't get attached to it.

Great on the Knees and Very Comfortable...
I have been using this bench for just over a month for my daily meditations, and I am finding it to be very comfortable. I have some issues with my knees, and this bench relaxes the angle of my knee bend, alleviating pressure. In re some of the other reviews I have read about this bench, I have not experienced any issues with it sliding out from under me or anything of the sort. It feels solid beneath me and does not move. I should note that I am using it on a carpeted surface.

Game changer
This bench is a game changer for my meditation. It is very comfortable & allows you to sit in a perfectly supported kneeling position. The current bottoms on the legs allowed the bench to angle forward & put your hips in the right alignment. I have problems with my hips & knees and have a hard time in any other position when meditating. I'm 5'8 and for me the height seems to be perfect. It's so much easier to get in the meditation zone when your body is comfortable. And the price is very reasonable. There is no need to spend $100+ on a meditation bench.

Good for sitting and kneeling, if you can keep it from sliding
The bench is comfortable and we'll built. It works both for sitting and kneeling. The only problem is the bottom of the legs are so smooth, it wants to slide away. This is easily fixed with some carpet grip pads, which I bought from Amazon and trimmed to size.

It takes the weight off so sitting is more comfortable. This product is durable and very well made
I tore both my ACLs as a teenager and as I've aged, sitting criss-cross can become very uncomfortable. Finding comfort to sit for long periods of time to meditate became a chore, until I found this bench! It takes the weight off so sitting is more comfortable. This product is durable and very well made!I will say that if you have arthritic knees or poor mobility, you might need a higher height as I get a good quad stretch at this angle. If my knees are a little inflamed, it can sometimes be irritating. Try out different heights to make sure you're not causing more harm.

It is a great value and is a wonderful alternative to a cushion
I teach meditation classes and have had several of my students purchase this after trying mine out. It is a great value and is a wonderful alternative to a cushion.

Finally I can meditate without so much discomfort! Thanks!
Before this came in the mail, my shins hurt and my feet were scrunched up and owwy but NO MORE because now I have my cool Meditation Bench.Truly. I'm not joking. This is a nice item! I'm very pleased! Also, this may seem like a rather plebeian thing to say BUT ...It's a very nice looking little item too! :DI don't know why anyone would have issues using this wonderful little meditation bench. A few people wrote that it "slipped" or they felt it wasn't really all that well made.I disagree. It didn't slip on me and I've given the bench a thorough once over and, really, for 43 bucks this is a STEAL!If you're having issues with slipping, look at the pictures I took. I used a small square piece of foam (approx 3" x 23" x 23") and put it in a pillowcase and then just set the bench on it. I think that would do the job for people who have said it "slipped." ALSO? Putting that little piece of foam down is a little extra boost for the comfort of your shins (against a hard floor).IF someone wants something that is hand carved out of mahogany or rosewood with sacred symbols all over it, etc? That's fine but it won't work any better than this one does and it'll cost you LOTS of money. Besides, they're all made for one reason - to relieve your legs and back of unnecessary discomfort. This one sure did the trick for me. I couldn't be happier. :D

Comfortable, sturdy, excellent fit
I'm a beginner at meditation (trying Joshin Kokyu-ho) and I'm not flexible at all, and so have a real hard time sitting cross legged or sitting on my feet for any period of time. Instead of a meditation cushion, I thought I'd give this bench a try and am quite pleased. I'm 5' 10" and about 185lb and size 12 feet. As you can see from the picture, my feet fit quite well under the bench and no part of my feet or calves touch any part of the bench - just sufficient clearance. I have an athletic build, so maybe if your legs are bigger it would cause problems with your calves touching? But for my build, no issues. The cushion is plenty comfortable.Do note that there are two sides to this bench, meaning that one side of the rocker bottom has a different curvature diameter than the other, making it "shorter" or "taller" depending on which way you position it. I position it using the taller side. Some reviews complain about the bottom rocker being slippery, but I can't even imagine my knees and tops of my feet being against a hard floor, and so I use a yoga mat and the bench stays just fine on it with no slipping. If you were on a hard surface, maybe some two-sided tape or something to keep it in place. The outside part of the tape would get gummed up with dust and such, but maybe that would provide enough friction to stay.

Beautifully designed bench with legs too short.
Decided to purchase a zeiza bench in March but prices were prohibitive so I purchased an adjustable kneeling chair instead. I've been using it twice daily for meditation; it works quite well. But when I was browsing zeiza benches last week I found this. Used my Amazon credits and placed the order. It arrived yesterday, as scheduled. This bench is as beautiful as described in previous reviews, but there turns out to be one glaring discrepancy with makes me question the validity of some reviews:The legs sit too low to the floor.I don't know what 5'9" man sat comfortably with this bench, but THIS 5'9" man sat on his heels for 15 minutes meditating on the possibility of his feet going numb.Which they did a little bit.I wasn't terribly disappointed...just a bit bewildered since most of the reviews made obvious points about user size. Size never occurred to me prior to these reviews. I thought it was like "one size fits all".It ain't.So I switched the bench out and continued my meditation session with my adjustable kneeling chair...(Highly recommended, by the way...)...and decided to store the bench away somewhere. Couldn't even muster up enough disappointment to send it back.I work up this morning with a plan. Maybe I could but a couple wooden blocks from Home Depot. Sit the bench on the blocks...more leg room!Cool! But I don't want to wait, so I grab a couple hefty books from my bookshelf to try.Ok, but slippery. Hmmmm.......how 'bout I wrap those suckers in blankets and pad the middle for my knees and feel.Perfect solution.***UPDATE***I'm learning that the knumbness I experience in my feet has less to do with the bench than me not being limber. Considerable practice seems required before this is no longer an issue.***UPDATE***I temporarily stopped using my bench as it required too much preparation to adjust for the inadequate length of the legs. As it happened, my wife has started meditating and we've started visiting a meditation center. I decided I wanted to take my bench, but I can't drag blankets to the center to adjust the height, so I purchased several durable exercise mats to substitute. Turns out these mats have removable end strips the exact width of the legs on my bench. I duct taped 2 strips on the bottom of each leg. It ain't pretty but I can now sit comfortably on the bench with no preparation.Solved the slippage problem too.

I am fairly new to meditation and decided to order this because I am not super flexible and sitting crosslegged is a bit uncomfortable for me. With bad knees, I worried that even with the bench, that being on my knees would be uncomfortable or even painful, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out it is not. This position was amazingly comfortable and I was able to meditate a full 20 minutes without even a twinge. Am incredibly happy with this bench - it is well made and far exceeded my expectations!

Great meditation bench!
I don’t write many reviews, but I really wanted to give this bench my praises! I was reluctant to purchase it because I thought it might be to low due to problems with my knee joints, but when I sit on the high side, the knee angle is surprisingly comfortable. I was actually thinking of glueing a rubber strip to the bottom for traction, but I haven’t had it slip on the carpet so I might just leave it as is. I’m 5’5” so not sure what a taller person would experience. I have the burgundy color and it is a deeper, richer color than the picture. So glad I purchased this!

Quality bench but slides out from under you on carpet at first
This is a very well-made bench with a specific problem. The craftsmanship is really excellent, even before you take into account the extremely reasonable price. The padding is perfect for me, and the heights are just right. It doesn't fold like some others do.But, I'm using it on carpet, and due to the angle and slick coat of varnish on the legs, it slides out from under me slowly. The longer I sit on it, the more it slides backwards. It only does this in the lower (more-comfortable for me) mode, in the higher mode it stays put.I'm going to try to fix the problem by gluing non-slip pads to the legs. We'll see if that works. Maybe I could rough up the varnish a little to make it not as slick? I don't know.Edit: I don't know what changed, but the problem seems to have solved itself. Maybe I changed my seating position or something? But, I don't have the problem anymore, so I'm upgrading to 5 stars. Just be sure to stick with it if you have comfort issues.

Good Meditaion Bench
I like this meditation bench. I recommend reading through all the reviews and reading the instructions. It seems that many people don't know what to expect when they buy it. I have found this to be the best way for me to meditate. I can stay upright easier for longer than just on a chair and my legs don't take to cross legged poses and beyond. I've meditated up to an hour on it and the most sore part of me is my upper back and that's only because my back isn't yet strong enough to stay upright for that long yet and gets tired towards the end of my sessions. The cushion is ok. It feels much better than not having a cushion in my opinion. I've messed with the angle on both sides and still the seat doesn't hit my bottom quite right and hits the back edge. So, it could have a better shape for me and perhaps a bit more padding, but, really, once I'm settled, I don't notice any of that. Perhaps if it was 100% comfy I'd get sleepy more easily. Since I am angled forward on it, when I'm getting sleepy, I will start to fall forward, which I very much prefer to falling backwards which can happen when I'm in a chair. This is a good thing, because part of the reason for sitting up to meditate is to keep you awake. I was concerned about my knees, but I have no discomfort in them at all when I use this at the right angle for me. I folded two bath towels and laid them on the floor under this since I have no carpeting and this is sufficient. I also keep a towel or something behind it to lay over my feet and tuck under me when it's cold in the room. Sometimes I'll wear my robe and tie the belt loosely just below where I put my lands folded in my lap to keep them from sliding down my legs or I'll fold them and tuck them in the notch between my belly and my upper thighs if I'm wearing jeans. Sometimes they won't slide, but usually I need to keep them from sliding by putting a piece of cloth there or something, which I don't mind. This is so much more comfortable than using a chair and it keeps me awake, so I'm pleased. If you are doing a body scan meditation, I've found this angle on the knees is comfortable for that. I find some of the postures that feel more binding or out of alignment through me off in those and was concerned that might be an issue with this, but it isn't. This one is definitely worth taking a risk on. Take a few days to try to find the right angle for you and the right amount of padding underneath. I think it took me about a week to find my angle and for my knees to be happy with it and now they never both me. It does take me a few moments to find the right angle each time and it takes my body a few moments to settle in, but once I'm settled it doesn't distract me. I'm 5' 7" and have used it comfortably between 130 and 150 lbs on the shorter side of the bench.
