Sparkling inclusions
It was hard to tell from just the pictures but this clay has shimmery flakes that are much larger than I was expecting. I created a test piece, as I do with every color and type of clay I purchase, I was excited to put those flashes to good use. I mixed up some translucent clay with opal-like colors (used powders from the Jacquard sampler I also purchased from Amazon) the duo red blue is perfect for this technique and flamingo pink and then carefully swirled pieces of the lightened colored translucent clay with this clay. I created several shapes and then covered rank piece with a very thin layer of uncolored translucent clay. This added to the faux opal illusion and ensured that none of the flakes would stick out of the piece's surface after baking and sanding. The pieces are tumbling away in my rock tumbler along with plastic bonded abrasive media (from Otto Frei). If they turn out the way I hope I'll be the greatest tiger in the jungle :).All chattering aside this is yet another wonderful Sculpey clay giving my creativity new areas to explore.

Cool clay!
This is a bit of an unusual clay when compared with other Premo clays. The mylar bits that make this Opalescent are rather large and sometimes the pieces make for a rough surface. This can be fixed with a bit of sanding. The base of this clay is a translucent base, so be sure not to bake at too high a temperature, as some yellowing will occur. This clay definitely is good to have in your clay collection for making interesting opal-like looks

Beautiful Gold Color!
Really good clay. Makes everything look that much better with the sparkly gold.

Everything needs a little sparkle
I wish they produced this in larger, economical blocks of 8oz. or more to use on larger projects. I love this particular accent 'color' - though it's more like the white translucent with bits of iridescent sparkle in it so even when blended with a color it gives it a nice sporadic sparkle effect without looking like a disco ball (unless you mix in too much of the color/not enough of the opal accent, in which case it can be overwhelmed). As a 'stand-alone' color I found it particularly nice when making Fairy Wings. The translucent effect with bits of sparkle is really nice as a background and then after baking I highlight the ridges in and around the edges of the wings with paints or 3-D markers: Sakura 38369 10-Piece Blister Card Glaze 3-Dimensional Glossy Ink Pen Set, Assorted ColorIf you do a lot of work with clay you owe it to yourself to try it once, both alone and blended.

Fun product
This clay is good to use for crafts. It is a good quality and easy to use.Overall I'd buy it again.Nothing to brag about but fun to use if you're making fake opals.

Very dry, hard to work with.
The clay was extremely dry and hard to work with. Was unable to use in the end. Waste of money.

Love it
Arrived nice and soft and easy to work with. It is always a worry when getting clay shipped if it is going to be old and crumbly or soft and workable out of the box.I have to say I am really happy not to have to mix iridescent flakes into translucent clay anymore, one less step! The clay also seems softer pre baked than the translucent Premo that I have as well. Either way, I am very happy they have come up with Opal and its easy to work with and looks very pretty after baking, and a hit with the heat gun.

Awesome end result!
Great product!! Used to make beads for a necklace. The Opal is prettier than I expected! The translucent isn't as translucent t as I thought(first beading project) but it still did the job! I mixed both colors with some flower petals and it turned out very pretty!
