I modified mine slightly to fit a Mont Blanc pen. The Caran pens are a bit skinny.

If you are okay with price, I think it is a decent option. I recently ordered new 849 pen. The pen came with medium black, but I wanted to try the fine line. It is not comparably finer than the medium, but it writes as smooth as the medium. So far, I love it.

I have used Caran d'ache for a long time and love them. The refills (Fine) is not that smooth. Will buy the Medium next time.

Works well. Nice to have black over the normal blue that comes with the 849 model ballpoint pens. Yes, they are Black. Yes, they are Fine Point.

Just the original ink, I bought the fine ones, even though my pen originally comes with the medium one.
