Affordable, durable tool for scuba diving suited to other sporting/outdoor activities too.
The Casio DW290 is an affordable, durable tool for scuba diving suited to other sporting/outdoor activities too.47.5 x 45.0 x 13.5mm / 60gThis watch was designed to be used for scuba diving so the buttons are easy to use underwater with cold or gloved hands (or cold, gloved hands!), and I can attest to the fact that they work. I have used my GW-M6510 for diving before (as it is rugged and water resistant) but the small, recessed buttons are tricky to operate underwater. Consequently, I wanted something easier to use, but more affordable than a G-Shock, and I chanced upon a review of the DW290 on the Urban Gentry YouTube channel that led me to try this watch. The plastic strap was stiff and uncomfortable to begin with but softened up after a few days. It is quite long but fits over my wetsuit/semi-drysuit well. In everyday wear the tail of the strap is longer than the keeper so I use a ranger band (made from an old inner tube) to manage it. As this watch is not part of the G-Shock range the strap is not curved and will lie flat if necessary. The backlight is bright and makes the display easily read in the dark. The two right hand side buttons (“light” and “start”) are reversed compared to my GW-M6510 which took some time to get used to. The module is fairly simple and the functions are: alarm, countdown and stopwatch. One little feature I particularly like is that I can see the time when in countdown or stopwatch mode. The styling is quite retro (90s) which could be a problem for some people, but I’m old enough that I went to the cinema to see Mission Impossible (1996), consequently, it is not a problem for me. Also, asTom Cruise wore a very similar watch in that movie (though on a nato or zulu strap) it is suitable for smaller wrists (6.75”/17.1cm). To clarify, I don’t know how big Tom’s wrists are but I am about the same height as him and it fits my wrists well!I have used it on about 20 dives so far (maximum depth 32m) and it has been fine. All in all, I really like it, use it for diving/swimming in the sea 2-3 times a week and consider this watch to be excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Great, if a bit awkward classic
This is a terrific little piece for the money and, of course, famously the Ethan Hunt Mission Impossible 1 watch. Pushers are placed differently than most other Casios so if you wear lots of different watches like I do you'll find yourself pushing the wrong one from time to time. Band is soft and comfortable but my big wrists could use a bit more length. Overall for the money it can't be beaten.

Mission impossible 1watch
I love my Casio . I like this watch ,it has a sort of 80s vibe with its screen lumensanc green screen and it's scuba mask shape. This watch will not appeal to everybody but if you get it , you get it. This watch gets more wrist time than many of my stainless divers i own . The looks grew on me and now I wear this watch often and it gives me a care free wearing experience something most of my other watches fail to bring. I do recommend this CASIO for anybody waiting a tough as nails time piece..

Great 90s classic!
I hesitated to buy this watch for a long time: first I found it strange due to its case shape, and I thought it looked too big (images on the internet are deceiving), but watching the video made by TGV of the YouTube channel “The Urban Gentry” made change my mind about those issues, and I began to appreciate the watch. Then I realized/found out the watch originally had a module that only had a preprogrammed calendar until the year 2029. I didn’t want that… And Amazon describes it as being like that. But there was also a more modern module that was preprogrammed until 2099 (module 3231).Eventually I decided to risk it and buy the watch while it was available, and I’m not sorry at all (I figured it would probably have the more modern module). I’m glad I did it because I found out, as soon as the watch arrived, that all my fears were unjustified: the watch is lovely, the watch wears great on my wrist (which is about 7.5 inches in circumference), and it has the module 3231 (I checked, and the calendar goes until the year 2099, by which time I’ll no longer be around…).I’m extremely happy with the watch, and highly recommend it for anyone who loves 80s and 90s retro style Casios.
