The Ultimate Guide to Modern Calligraphy & Hand Lettering for Beginners

My mom gave me this as a gift and it is so fun!! Lots of different styles to learn, and the instructions were very detailed!

This is a great beginner book for Modern calligraphy and lettering. I use tracing paper over the workbook practice pages to keep from writing in the book. I've learned a lot so far. Nice alphabets in this book. Wish there was more practice for connecting letters to make words...

Very well written and well organized. Easy to follow directions. Beautiful examples. I chose this based on reviews and price point. I am pleased I chose it over a spiral bound book which I was considering (with a $25 price and maybe double content). Reading the artist’s “about” also made me feel good about my choice. The book is perfect for a beginner. I would go with five stars, but there is one negative for me. I was hoping for a book I could actually practice in. However, my pens bleed through the pages. If the practice pages were blank on the back side, it would be perfect.

Got two books for my granddaughters plus the calligraphy pens. Shows them how to use each pen and practice pages. A great starter gift for calligraphy enthusiasts.

This is great! I have gotten through about half the book and it has definitely helped get the style down. Most important is just repetition and writing a lot to get your personal style pin pointed.

The calligraphy book was ok. Wasn’t that excited when I got it because I guess it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. Also there were 2 pages or so that were written in, no biggie! I still kept it because it is a good tool for beginners just starting out.

Tips are ok, in the book itself she says good quality paper is important. I used a standard brush pen but the quality of this paper is low and is so thin, so you can see it from the other side of the paper. How ironic. It annoys me and I bought this book for a relaxing activity. I’d find some other book.
