What is the benefit of a "Resistored" Element?

Increase tank life , difference metals react and release different elements into water when under heat and stress.

will this element make water hot faster due to the longer rod? We have a 50 gallon tank that gives cold water after several people shower.

No the length makes it so the wattage of the element is carried over a larger surface area thus reducing the stress on the metal and reducing burnouts. Think if the element was only 2" long then all 4500w would be concentrated in that small length and overwork the element. The larger surface area will heat the water more efficiently but only slightly faster not really noticeably so, maybe a few minutes. An electric water heater takes roughly 2 hrs to recover while a gas heater takes about 1 hour. A 50gal tank would be good for only 2 conservative showers one after another. The tank would roughly use 20-25 gal every 10 minutes, so two 10 min showers per heated full tank. If you turn the hot water spout down to a lower flow and adjust that with the cold then the water will last longer because the water is leaving the water heater at a slower rate.
