Does Jillian have modifiers for some of the more challenging excercises?

Yes!  The person on the right does the easier version and the left the harder versions.  She is good about pointing out the modifiers for easier and harder.  She says her goal is to keep us challenged at our own level (more weights, less or no weights).  Knee push ups or full body, jump on one foot or two feet...

I was thinking about getting shaun t's insanity max 30, but then i saw the infomercial for bodyshred. which is better and delivers results faster?

I haven't tried that particular Insanity set, but I have tried Shaun T's previous Insanity work outs and this one appears to be a much more intense version. Bodyshred uses Jillians 3-2-1 plan with the use of weights. Personally, for me, this works better. If you enjoy almost puking for 30 minutes because of intense cardio Insanity is for you. I don't, and therefore am not as motivated to work out because it's so unenjoyable. Body shred will give you results. Incorporating resistance training with weights is the way to go to see results. My body is extremely athletic after Bodyshred but not bulky at all. It's 30 minutes of extremely hard exercises, but unlike Insanity you won't feel like puking or passing out the entire time and you will see results quickly.

is this the same as the body revolution program?

It's actually quite a bit different, as body revolution does NOT follow the 3-2-1 system and this one does.  Body revolution is great - however it's meant as a weight loss system, or "couch to fit" system, and really starts off at a very beginner level.  I absolutely love body revolution, but you will get to the point with it that the first few levels are just not that challenging.  In addition, body revolution follows a "2.5-1-2.5" circuit system (2.5 minutes of strength that might contain core, 1 minute HIIT interval, then the same 2.5 minutes repeated).  I found that a lot easier than the 3-2-1 system that body shred and many other Jillian videos uses.  2 minutes of HIIT, especially with intense intervals, is challenging.  In a good way!  This one starts off where Body revolution leaves off in terms of difficulty.

All u need is a few Dumbbells ranging from 3-8 pounds..or heavier if you are in good shape and want a challenge! I use 5,8,10 for my workouts. A mat is optional.
