1511-3 LED Wide Light Magnifier 3.5X 2.0 x 2.0 inches (50 x 75 mm)

This did ship right away but took 2-3 weeks to arrive from Japan, which I expected. I have a 5X one just like it that I have had for years and dropped more times than I can count. My old one has kind of a Break-away quality in that when I dropped it, the battery cover and batteries would come off/out, but everything always went back together and it worked perfectly again with no flickers. Untill . . . . . the last time I dropped it, the battery holder part came loose. My son-in-law fixed it with masking tape and it works again, but I decided it was time for a new one. So I ordered this one, a 6X instead of the 5X. It looks exactly like the old one, and I CAN tell the difference in the 6X, so I am hoping I get used to it and it makes reading small print easier. The overall weight with batteries seems a little lighter than the old one, and the material feels different - perhaps a little thinner? - than my old one. The real test will come when I drop it - we'll see how well it goes back together. I can still use my old one if I keep taping it, so now I have the best of both worlds. I have macular degeneration and am legally blind, but for quick reads (price tags, some menus, cooking directions, etc.) it is perfect.

I’m severely vision impaired, so I must live with a magnifying glass in my hand for everything I need to see, everything! I got this magnifier first from the low vision specialist (an M.D. at Johns Hopkins , the best healthcare facility in the USA). Then I found them on Amazon, so I could get more to stash all around the house. I even carry mine to church to read the bulletin & the hymnal. It is simply the best magnifier made, no matter what criteria you use to judge. The clarity of the German lens is better than any other magnifier & the LED light is strong. In fact, I have never worn one out, despite very heavy use during the 11+ years that I have been going slowly toward full blindness. There is simply no comparison. I have tried at least 10 or 12 similarly sized magnifiers & nothing comes close to the excellent quality, convenient size/shape, powerful light, & light weight. The slip cover for the glass itself is wonderful at keeping the lens clean!

This magnifier is very sturdy and works well. I have used it for reading text messages, while on the computer and take it when i shop. I purchased it from Amazon Global Japan and it arrived in seven days. It was shipped immediately I had one of these magnifiers previously but lost it. I would definitely recommend the seller.

Seemed well made, but then it revealed itself to be just another piece of plastic junk. First sample returned due to obvious signs of use, on/off button with a lot of play and the whole thing was squeaking like a century old wood floor, second sample scratched right in the center when accidentally and gently brushed against some plastic I was looking at. My goodness, this piece of utter crap is supposed to be made in Germany, the only thing reminiscent of Germany was the price and NOT the sorry plastic (poor) quality it's displayed. Compared to what's available on Amazon for 8 bucks, this is worth just 3. Or less. And I actually paid for this $104! NOT recommended!

I purchased the 6X24 Mobilux for general numismatics, to use in conjunction with higher magnification when needed. It's a nice magnifier. The optics are crystal clear. The handle is plastic and a 'light weight' for such an expensive piece. The product design is very handsome, as expected from the Germans. The only major issue I have is that it didn't come with a protective case, which sucks for travel and actual use other than sitting at a desk. In terms of optics quality, this is probably one of the best hand magnifiers you can buy but on a dollar for dollar basis, the LED magnifier at Harbor Freight is very close, fully lighted (with several LEDs) VERY robustly made, out of metal and probably represents the best value since it costs a fraction of the Eschenbach. To be honest, I feel more comfortable travelling with that than the much more expensive Eschenbach and actually use it (the cheaper HF version) for my engineering and welding inspection work. All that said, if you're going to go to a coin show and look at a penny that costs two grand, you don't want to look like a bum, so at least this has that "Ooooh, look at how seriously he takes this, he has a really premium magnifier" vibe going for it.

Great magnifier

Owners guide was in Japanese and item had markings indicating it was from eschenbach-optik.co.jp Must be why the price is so low compared to a USA based seller. Works as expected. Impressive edge to edge clear view. A bit disappointed in the shipping however. Item was shipped in a plastic bag with no protection and thus the box was crushed. Come on, this is not a t-shirt or pair of socks. Fortunately it did not affect the operation of the LED.

I've purchased several of these magnifiers for myself and as gifts. The rectangular 1511-3 hits the sweet spot for general home use. I also tried the 4X rectangular 1511-4, but the image is more distorted and you have to get it much closer to the object in order for it to focus. I like it much less than the 3.5X magnifier. I've never tried the new 3X model 1512-2 but I bet it would be a good choice too. I purchased this one from Global Tailor who sent me a gray market model with Japanese instructions. Not the end of the world, but it should have been noted as I purchased it as a gift.

My husband suffers from wet AMD on both eyes & recently he finds increasingly difficult to read newspaper & small prints which prescription reading glasses cannot fix. I have been purchasing products to help easing his difficulties. Good lighting and magnification are vital for this condition. Initially, bought A5 size cheap magnifying sheet but it was completely useless. There are so many magnifying glasses in the market, I wanted purchase best quality magnifing glass for him. I have searched an searched which "maker "rather than which magnifing glass to go for. I found Eschenbach is well renowned german optical instrument company & knew straight away this maker to go for .(being able to buy through Amazon is another reason) The parcel arrived within 48 hours from Germany,. Quality is superb,made in Germany. Although it's light weight, we knew instantly this is not £5 magnifying glass! It took for a while to get used to it ( you have to know the distance between glass and eye, not too close,not too far) In-built LED light was quite subtle( a lot of reviewers say it's bright....) but combination of pinpoint lighting and glass made this product superior. He cannot live without it now & so happy. Sometimes you don't get what you pay for but in this instance, you will.

This was bought as a replacement for one issued by Vista that I lost. I am partially sighted and rely on this to be able to read. The fast delivery was great and the magnifier is identical to the one I lost. It doesn't have a small spot that magnifies to a greater degree, the whole of it is what it says. It's not huge, a bout two inches across, but anything larger is not ideal for my type of sight loss. The light in the handle is ideal when reading text (books or news papers etc.) As it illuminates the page well. The unit comes with batteries and a cover for the glass, but it doesn't have a stand, luckily I didn't lose that bit! Overall its ideal for those with sight difficulties

Der Unterschied zu den Billiglupen aus China ist deutlich. Ich hatte auch schon einmal solche billigen Lupen bestellt, die dann aber überhaupt nicht brauchbar waren, um kleine Schrift oder Verletzungen und Zecken auf der Haut zu erkennen. Billiglupen verzerren auch die Sicht, und das zu betrachtende Objekt wirkt unscharf. Das alles ist mit dieser qualitativ sehr hochwertigen Lupe von Eschenbach völlig anders. Ich kann alle Details in Texten und auf der Haut sehr gut und ohne Verzerrungen erkennen. Die Lupe ist auch sehr gut verarbeitet. Ein großer Pluspunkt ist auch das LED Licht, welches die Stelle, die vergrößert wird, sehr gut ausleuchtet. Ich habe mir auch den dazu passenden Ständer mitbestellt. Er ist sehr praktisch, um die Lupe bei längerem Betrachten nicht die ganze Zeit halten zu müssen. Und wenn Splitter oder Zecken aus der Haut einer Hand entfernt werden müssen, brauche ich meine rechte Hand, um die Pinzette zu bedienen.

Mai una lente ha soddisfatta così tanto mia madre! Adesso è il prolungamento del suo braccio! Soffrendo di una maculopatia importante con questa lente riesce a leggere e ad essere autonoma! La consiglio vivamente!
