Easy to assemble, start and use
Easy to assemble, started right up, and worked like a charm. I dug 45 tomato holes in half an hour. It uses a 30:1 oil to gas mixture, which is a bit unusual, but other than that it's perfect. Note that because there is a centrifugal clutch, the auger can start spinning as soon as it starts. It will stop when warm and idling, but when starting it can cause the auger to get a bit squirrely. Wear good boots and grab it firmly! In clay make sure to lower the auger slowly, don't let it just chow it's way into the dirt, it will get wedged in the hole (don't ask me how I know). Just lower it slowly and it works perfectly.

Very poor customer service/tech support
I wanted to give zero stars but am not sure that is an option. I received this auger about one month ago. The starter cord does not pull. I sent their tech support the order number, purchase date, and picture and have not heard back from them. Now I want to add to this review, because it doesn't look like Amazon has posted it. I also sent Great Circle US a video of me pulling the cord without success. It is over a month now and Great Circle US has not addressed my problem with a stuck starter cord, except to say pull harder. I do believe the "powers that be" at Great Circle US stand around watching these videos of their dysfunctional augers and laugh. I have also complained to Amazon and have not heard back from them either!

3+ years in, 30+ posts later, still chugs along
For what it costs, it's great. Granted the price has nearly doubled in the time I've owned it, it's arguably now priced for what I'd have expected it to be. It lacks the bells, whistles, and other things that'd prevent it from beating the operator.. but it's also cheap and it works without complaint. I think a lot of other review's frustrations stem from the fact this thing will absolutely get caught and send the energy to the next weakest link..... you. So yes there is the potential for getting bruised, as there's no clutch system to enable slipping like a drill would have. But it's also still going, its cheap, and at one point I dont think I cranked it for 2 years while it sat outside, and it still fired right up after draining and refueling.I wouldnt recommend this for commercial use, but it's pretty great for personal/residential/remodeling types.

Great auger
Great auger for the price. We use it all the time on our homestead which has clay ground.

Gets the job done
I used this to drill 60 fence post holes, which was still hard work but less effort compared to manually digging with post hole diggers and way less time involved. The unit might not last through 600 holes as it is less durable than more expensive models. However, if like most people you will need this only a few times in your life, this will certainly get the job done and for much less cost than a bigger name brand.

Broke on the 2nd use, but customer service was good
We decided to buy an auger instead of renting to do our fence because we are doing it in sections, so it was actually cheaper to go this route. It worked great on the first and longest section of fencing, it did take 2 people at times because where we live we have clay starting about 12-18inches down, but the motor did great. However, on our 2nd section, 2nd hole in, the bit hit a rock and the auger jerked out of my husbands hand and the throttle handle hold snapped in half. We ended up having to rent an auger to complete that section because it was a shared fence with our neighbors and they have dogs that they didnt want to have to leave on the chain for too long. I emailed the company and they are supposedly sending a replacement, but its been 3 days and I have yet to receive a tracking number, so we will see. I'll update my review when/if we get the replacement.

Tore through clay like butter
Per the instructions, you're not suppose to run the engine full speed for the first 10 hours of use. I thought this was going to be a problem because I live in South Carolina known for it's red clay. The Earth Auger, tore through the red clay at less than half speed and was super easy to maintain control over when a root was hit. I see a lot of people mention a reverse option. That would be a good option to have on this auger as it is heavy to pull out between the weight of the auger and the clay that was dug up. Slow and easy I dug down 3 feet in no time and placed 2 10 foot logs in 2 separate holes. First time user and was overly cautious. Took about 45 minutes total.
