Nice bar stool; right height for working.
This stool looks like high quality wood. It is comfortable and the right height to sit at a standard counter top and use it as a desk/table/work surface. It was easy to put together, although I should have placed a towel or something to protect the surface of the plugs that cap the screws in their holes--one or two plugs stripped of their finish as we pounded them into place. My kids like these stools and drag them all over the house for various uses. I wanted these stools for a pump organ and a weaving loom. They work okay for those, but are 1-2 inches too high. They will be better suited at the kitchen counter (as I needed those, too). I knew they might be too tall but was hoping they would work and do double duty. I guess I get to keep looking for an elusive 22-inch stool.

Look great, poor instructions
Why are assembly instructions provided with no written steps? The illustrations are vague and misleading- after following I had to dissemble and start over. So, use common sense instead. Line up the legs so that the holes for the crossbar fittings line up. Screw the legs on but leave loose so it’s easy to fit the crossbars in to their corresponding holes. Once that’s done, tighten the legs. That’s it. Why couldn’t the instructions just say this? And the included Allen wrench is difficult to use when screwing in legs because there isn’t much turning room, and the Allen wrench must fit into the bolt exactly- I can’t count how many times I thought it was a good fit only to find it spinning like the screw was stripped. Pain in the you know what! Why can’t the manufacturer use screws and include a simple screwdriver? But, once assembled these stools look great! Real wood, not some cheap manufactured stuff, and look and feel quite sturdy. Good price too, making these stools worth the aggravation of assembly.

Well worth the price!
Works great, looks great, and is very sturdy. Comfortable too (can by a little uncomfortable to sit on after a while, but I bought this to put in front of my painting easel so I do end up sitting on it for hours on end). A little challenging to build by myself but very doable.

Outstanding deal and quality
I'm 73 years old and have put together a great deal of RTA furniture. This is the best engineered and executed I have ever put together. Just ordered another and won't ever bother with other brands again. Thank you for quality at a great price. I'm 6' tall and this stool is perfect height for table, counter or putting boots on/off.

Nice stools at this price point
Nice stools for what you're paying (I shopped around, and at the time I ordered, Amazon's price was about half what some retailer wanted for the same stool). I ordered three. Two went together very easy. The third had a cracked wooden bar. Rather than return, I followed instructions that came with the product to get the piece replaced. Replacement bar (or strut/brace) arrived in less than a week. It wasn't an exact fit, but worked in well after about five minutes of sanding with 80 weight sandpaper. Taking a cue from other reviewers, I purchased a hex bit for my ratchet to ease assembly. Highly recommend using a ratchet, but be careful not to over tighten. Of three stools, only one screw began to strip (one of the longer ones used to attach the seat). I was able to complete assembly by using the included hex wrench that came with the kit (it provided a deeper insertion after the screw's surface was damaged). All three stools are stable and sturdy after assembly. I used just a touch of wood glue down the screw holes of the third stool to enhance construction strength. If the others work loose over time, I may disassemble and re-assemble adding glue. For the money, these can't be beat. The wood tone of all three stools I received was uniform, and goes well in a kitchen/dinning room combo largely furnished with cherry or mahogany tones. Plenty study for sitting. The braces between the legs fine for gently resting your feet on, but I would not recommend putting heavy body weight directly on the strut/braces. I've been using these just over a week, so I can't speak to long term durability. But I've assembled lots of furniture of this type over the years, and while this looks a bit on the lightweight side, it should be durable for my limited use as occasional seating at our kitchen island. And again, the Amazon price point was low, so I don't have much invested here. I could have paid twice at much at other online retailers, and possibly three times as much had I bought the same or similar stool assembled at a retail store. I'm quite satisfied at this point.

OMG WHY?!?!
I WANTED TO LOVE THESE STOOLS! I really truly did. I hoped that this time, I wouldn't be disappointed by cheaply designed furniture like this. Alas, I should have known better... It amazes me that these stools have been given such good reviews. Here's the breakdown... PRO It's solid wood (its a stool though so, I should HOPE so...) Nice glossy finish Would be incredibly sturdy... CON Would be incredibly sturdy IF you can get them put together! The achilles heel of these stools is that the company decided to save a couple bucks by sending cheap hardware to assemble it with. The holes that are pre-drilled are NOT all properly drilled. Many of them are too small, or too shallow, which forces you to drive the bolts BY HAND with the hex wrench they supply, OR, to suffer the laborious task of RE-drilling the holes that aren't properly drilled, as you come across them. This is a STOOL. Its maybe 1.5 feet wide at its greatest point. WHY do these things need to be shipped in a 5 inch wide box with a dozen screws? I get the idea that it would be easier to store these things in a warehouse if they packaged it unassembled, but it takes one person to hold the legs in place and another person to drive the bolts into position, and it literally takes 45 minutes per stool because the hex wrench is too long and so you cannot simply keep turning the wrench until the bolts are tightened. You have to continuously place the wrench into the bolt, turn the bolt a half an inch, when the long end of the wrench hits to bottom of the seat you must then pull the wrench out, reposition the wrench, turn the bolt another half an inch, pull the wrench out.... jesus christ! WHY must I spend 2 hours putting together three stools?! I'd gladly have paid an extra ten bucks a piece to have these sent to me ASSEMBLED. So after stripping not one, not two, but THREE bolts, despite taking every bit of time and caution I could muster... I was forced to call amazon, request a refund for the two stools that were still in the boxes, and explain to the lady that as much as I would love to return the other stool, the only way I could possibly fir it back into the box would be to break it into pieces. Now I must go to walmart or target and hope that they have stools already assembled so that I dont have to go through this crap again. Lesson LEARNED and thank you amazon for handling the situation so well. Ill never make this mistake again thats for sure.

Quality controls a hit or miss
I ordered two of these, after the first one was put together, it was/is sturdy and well made. Most importantly, looks GREAT! Put the second one together and noticed after it was all together, it wobbled! So naturally I’m thinking it’s something I did wrong. I flip it back over looking at the legs and base, making sure all the legs are flush and square with the base. Everything checks out, so then I get a leveler only to find out the legs are not quit level. So I measured each leg, one leg was slightly longer then the other three, hence the wobble. I took it all apart, stacked the legs on top of each other (face the same angle) and yep it was confirmed, one leg was longer then the other three. So I boxed it back up, scheduled it to be returned back to Amazon for a refund and ordered a new one. I will write a review on the replacement one after I get it and let you know if it was good or bad. Tips on putting it together..... 1. Some people already know this, but for those who don’t... DO NOT use a powered/electric drill! The force of the drill can and will split and/or break the wood. Trust me, you will be tempted to use one, but don’t. This chair is made of what’s called “soft wood” and it will break like one other reviewer wrote. The force of the screw (when using a power drill) will split the wood and possibly making it break all together. Trust me on this one... I have assembled a LOT of home furnishing made of this type of wood. Plus, I’m a wood worker. 2. Make sure the legs are flush with the base before tightening it all the way. 3. This is more an FYI type of thing, the screws going into the leg through the base of the chair are EXTREMELY hard to screw in and very time consuming because of that. Lots of patience is required lol. If your like me and just get to the point where you think, enough is enough and your patience go right out the door, you can use a pair of pliers to screw them most of the way in. Please note though, using pliers will scratch the edge of the screw up and remove the black off of it. I didn’t really care about this because it’s under the seat, you’d have to flip it over and really look to notice it. I would get the screw started with the provided tool, what’s the screw is secure in the leg I then would switch to the pair of pliers. Basically just gripping the edges of the screw tightly and twisting it to screw inwards. If you’re not confident about this or don’t quite understand how I was doing this, I wouldn’t attempt it for you can end up jacking the screw up too much. Hope this review is helpful.
