Second was easier to assemble - a doddle!
Many reviews have commented that this is a nightmare to assemble. I did not find this to be the case. There is a bit of a knack, yes. However, don’t be put off. I bought 2. The first one, at one point, resembled the old fashioned cheese & pineapple hedgehog found at bad buffets in days past. But it soon found it’s correct shape when the back frame went on. The second was approached in a different manner and was a doddle. The knack, for me at least, was to start in the middle of the frame and work out from there, banging in the crosspieces as I went. Be sure to bang in a cross-piece, though - don’t do one strip at a time. That way lies nothing but Heartache. The second one took form very quickly. Another tip is for when you attach the back framework. This is nailed in place. I marked the centre (by eye) by just tapping a nail to form a guiding dimple. As you go, you find your view is hidden by the building frame. Much easier with a dimple for the nail to drop into. One last tip….. do not build on carpet. A flat surface works much better. But protect a wooden floor from minor damage. My main concern was the wood splitting. Either from the cross bands of metal or the nails. Not an issue (although a few spare nails would be good - some of mine were mis-shapes before I even got to them!).I’d recommend. Half the price of pre-assembled and a doddle if you follow the tips. I also used the joining clips. Bit fiddly but again well worth the effort. As for comments about the frame falling apart when loaded with wine….. I really don’t know how that might happen unless the cross pieces aren’t hammered to sit flush. I suspect operator error, but who am I to judge!?

Good sturdy rack, assembly instructions could be clearer
Good sturdy wine rack, fitted all of the champagne and wine bottles I had. Comes flat-packed, instructions for assembly are basic and assembly itself was a bit more involved than expected (nails seemed weak / pre-drilled holes were not deep enough which meant I replaced a few with similar nails I had spare).

Wine rack good for storage of wine
Standard construction wood and thin plate metal, bit fiddly to assemble but once you get going dead easy. Holds wine bottles without fear of them sliding out or the thing collapsing

Terrible to assembly and fell apart when full of wine bottles
It took me several hours to assemble this rack as the crossing bars at the front were too loose fitting and each row fell apart once the next row was started on. I eventually got it assembled and loaded with bottles but the front bars kept coming out even when it was static. I then tried to move it a few inches and it disassembled forcing me to rescue the bottles as it disintegrated. I have now spent several hours reassembling it but with added screws in each wooden piece to hold the cross-pieces in place. It now at last is structurally sound.

Very fiddly to put together.
It was disappointing to find that this English-made product had just not quite been completely thought through. The box was for another wine rack altogether and the instructions had things like how to fix the four diagonal struts when only two were included. The most significant disappointment was that, when assembled, there was nothing to retain the metal strips in the cross cut wood on the opposite ends of the wood to where the nails were to be installed which means the structure is insecure and can come apart very easily. At the very least, a small number of “U” pins (or even staples) should have been offered to stabilise and retain these metal strips in the cross-cut ends of the wood. You might even like to suggest a method of ensuring that the rack cannot fall forward breaking many of your customers 36 bottles of precious wine!I think that with these matters attended to, it would be a really good product.

Great storage
Bought this to fill a gap in my kitchen. Was really easy to put together and looks nice. Now we have our drinks visible rather than forgotten at the back of a cupboard and can actually see what we have!

Poor quality
This product is not the best quality. It comes flat packed and needs assembling, which as others have said is not entirely straightforward - it requires a lot of hammering. One of the wooden pieces had not been cut deeply enough to allow for it to be put together, but there were a few spares so we didn't need to use that one. The nails provided are quite weak and bendy and we had a number of them bend whilst hammering them in, so then had to struggle to remove nails and put new ones in without bending the metal frame on the back which was near impossible. The nail holes in the wood are off centre in nearly all our pieces, meaning it's hard to line everything up between the metal grid and the wooden bits, which then aggravates the nails bending. Once assembled the frame was still a bit wobbly. It is sufficient for the purpose for now, but I'm not sure we would buy it again. Would probably buy something else of better quality in future. Shame.

good traditional wine storage
Very easy to assemble if you follow the instructions and extremely sturdy when assembled. Easy to see the bottles you store clearly.
