Tweaked the damaged tip, now perfect.
Pricey but the quality is there. I'm knocking it down a star because on arrival, the very tip of the knife had a tiny curl on it - almost as though it had been dropped. By curl I mean the edge side of the tip was slightly bent, almost like the burnished edge one tries to achieve on a cabinet scraper.In any case, a quick run over a diamond stone in the shop, and a couple of strokes on a ceramic steel, and the knife is a glory to use. Smooth, sharp, balanced, elegant. This is my second MAC knife, both Damascus-bodied. Best knives in the block.For comparison, I use a Kyocera Kyotop 6.5-inch Santoku, also a marvelous knife, and while the ceramic knife is lighter, I find myself reaching for the MAC more often. Partly for durability, but also because frankly, the MAC's so damned perfectly sharp and well-balanced, the slight weight penalty doesn't even matter.
