So far so good - with updates.
Can’t give them 5 stars because I’ve only been wearing them one week at the time of this review. But so far so good. They are oversized but the product description states that. I got some cheap inserts and that took care of that. I’ve been wearing them everyday for a week in rough working conditions. I wanted these for the hard rubber soles because I run a high risk of stepping on rusty nails sticking through boards. These are my first jungle boots. The canvas uppers seem to keep my feet cooler, I don’t know why. Also, the canvas uppers make these boots easier to lace and they slip on and off a lot easier than what I’m used to. I haven’t ran into any of the problems yet that I’ve seen in these reviews. None of the bootlace eyelets have popped out and the drain grommets are still intact. The leather looks to be real. It’s not cracking and splitting anywhere yet. I shine the boots at the end of the day. I bought these to use for a big cleanup project and then throw away. But I may hold onto them. I like them more and more. My girl friend asked me to order her a pair, I tried to dissuade her, but ended up ordering her a pair. I have no idea how that will go. Anyway, I can’t give them a 5 because I’ve only had them a week. I got these so that I won’t get a nail through my foot. Nice boots have soft glued on soles that aren’t going to stop a nail. Update: been wearing these almost daily for over a month. I feel justified in elevating my rating of them from a four star to a five star. Update: It’s now October 15th, 2021. Still no problems. Included a photo of me wearing them. I like them. They lace up fast, the canvas uppers facilitates slipping them on, they take a good shine and are comfortable (with insoles). And they just look so damned good!

Be sure to size down
Bought these for a costume, they look great but the size is WAY off. I’m an 11.5 in most shoes and started with an 11, way too big. Went to a 10, still too big. Ordered a 9, got sent a 10. Had to try a 4th time before getting it right! The 9 still had room but was manageable. Based on this I’d recommend 2 sizes down from your normal.

Absolutely fantastic boots - but old school
So to be clear, these are fantastic boots and there is a reason they stayed in services for 40 years (or so). Once broken in, they are wonderfully comfortable. The ability to walk out moisture is great, and the ankle support when crossing rocky ground with a load is excellent. They are built true to spec, and no different than the military issue ones from the past. Exactly the same on the inside too. Now keep in mind, you'll need to break them in. A lot. Do not skip this step or you'll have blisters the size of Texas on your tootsies. While modern boots (like my Solomans) are almost as comfortable as sneakers the day you buy them, these need more love become comfortable. And it will take a while to break them in, no skipping that. They are old school and the leather starts much like plastic. But once broken in they will last years. The panama soles work as designed. I just came back from traipsing around in the mud (pouring rain, cold day, mud up to my ankles) and the mud just fell out of the treads as I walked. I was carrying a load and the ankle support was nice too.

Failed
I've owned these in the past. I had a lot of back pain in the past, but not lately (last 5 or 6 years). I wondered if the back pain could be related to these boots. My last set of boots (not these jungle boots) wore out too quickly and cost 3 times as much as these. So i bought another set of these jungle boots but this time i also bought a set of inserts for them. Superfeet Black Premium Insoles Without the inserts, i was standing on concrete talking with a friend and starting to get back pain that reminded me of pain in years past. after i bought the insert things are much better. Although the inserts were more than the boots, both together are still much cheaper than the last non-jungle boots i owned. The jungle boots will last much longer too. ------------------------UPDATE---------------------------------------------------- It's only July and i have worn these out. There is a split through the bottom. I mentioned that i've owned these in the past (above), but these are clearly not the same boots i used when i was in the military. They do look like the exact boots, but don't last anything like the originals. If they were the same boots, they would have lasted years not 4 months. I can't blame heavy usage for why these failed so quickly. I'm a computer tech, not a construction worker (which i've been in the past). My job wouldn't wear these out so fast. Another detail about the usage of these boots, is that half of my time i'm usually wearing sandals. i only wear these boots when i work (4 days a week). So long story short, these have to be made of very low quality material. For those that care to know, you don't quite get what you pay for with these. $27 is cheap, but you'd expect at least a year for cheap boots. I don't recommend anybody buying these.

Decent boots but the soles are a problem
I've had these boots for a couple of weeks now. I like how they look and they're fairly comfortable. There's virtually no cushion in the insole but I'm okay with that; I've worn them several times, including for a 6-7 hour long hiking trip, and my feet felt pretty good. They fit well, although it's a good thing I followed the recommendation of some other reviewers and bought a size smaller than my usual. Had I bought my regular size I think they'd be too big. My one major gripe with these boots is the soles. They are fine for walking on and served me well enough while scrambling up rocks and dirt paths during my hike, but they give off an extremely strong rubber odor. It was noticeable as soon as I took them out of the box they were shipped in and is so strong that indoors I will sometimes catch a whiff of them from several feet away. After two weeks of leaving them in a window to air out, wearing them outside a few times, and attempting to clean them with an odor removing solution the odor still hasn't dissipated. Perhaps it will in time but I've never before encountered a pair of shoes with such strong smelling rubber soles. I've also noticed the soles sometimes leave scuff marks on vinyl flooring. Not a huge problem as the scuff marks scrub off fairly easily, but again it's a problem I've never seen with rubber soled shoes I've owned in the past. Perhaps the rubber used in these was of some cheap, low quality variety. Overall these boots are okay for the price, provided the overpowering rubber smell doesn't bother you and you don't mind carrying it with you everywhere you go. Knowing what I know now I would probably not purchase these again.

Perfect boots for young marines
Just what we needed, very comfortable for my son. He likes how they look and how light they are. They seem to grip really well and seem nice and insulated.
