Adds great functionality!
It's become very hard to find bulbs that are not too bright. Especially with the influx of LEDs. Everything is just too bright for general purposes at night. I remembered devices like this in the past, but couldn't find anything like it in a store anymore. I do NOT want another one of the dimmers on a secondary cable from the plug (which are ok from SOME uses) but that is pretty much the only other solution I could find in a store. So off to Amazon! Working great. Have tested it with incandescent AND LED (which is what forced the need). Both working fine. Will be adding some more now for other locations. The best thing is that you can get the highest wattage bulb you might need, then dial it back to your preferred setting for the rest of the time. Brilliant! Only caveat is that it adds height to your bulb. This can be fixed using a shorter bulb, like an R14 (which is currently in my dimmer).

Triac construction
I bought one of these to try it on my incandescent bulbs. I use incandescent 60 watt bulbs because I get extreme eye fatigue from LED's, the blue light being the problem. I also set my computer, phone, etc, to dim starting at nightfall to reduce the LED glare. Windows 10 has a program called Night Light for this purpose, and it will put a yellow tint on the screen to block blue light. This dimmer is Triac based, so you don't get the heat like the rheostat dimmers. I set the dimmer and leave it there. I use the regular lamp switch to turn the lamp on/off.Most incandescent lights blow because of the full current shock on a cold filament. By reducing that shock (bulb dimmed) incandescent lights last a long time; many years. The first one of these switches I ordered worked great, so I ordered about a dozen of them, and use them every where in the house. None have failed, but I do only use them on incandescent bulbs, 60 watt, well below the 150 watt maximum. One nice feature of these switches is the big rotary switch which makes it easy to set the amount of dimming desired. All in all, these switches have been exactly what I needed. And the way I use them, and the bulbs, I think both will last a very long time.

Really doesn't work with LED bulbs
The specs clearly state this is for incandescent bulbs only. Even so, I tried pairing it with a Philips LED dimmable bulb (the really nice kind that gets warmer as you dim it).The dimmer worked with the bulb mostly, except it flickers occasionally and will get brighter or dimmer without anyone touching it. It's also overly sensitive to small adjustments. This might be ok in a reading lamp, but didn't work to make a 40W equivalent bulb dim enough for a nursery.I would have tested with an actual incandescent bulb, but I don't have any. They seem to be dying off, making this product obsolete.

Good dimmer
It works well as a dimmer. Handles up to 150 watt load, incandescent or not.CFL or LED can also be used as long as they are marked as dimmable, else they will not work properly and that is not the fault of this device.Unlike incandescent lamps, many dimmable LED lamps will not dim beyond 50%-level and simply turn off below that point. That is the way those LED lamps are designed and not the fault of this dimmer. When using this upside down, be sure to stay well below the rating and/or make sure the area is vented to keep it cool. Upside-down placement can concentrate heat to this device and can lead to premature electronics failure.

Great product but only lasted 9 months
Product works as advertise, easy to install, easy to adjust. Set it and forget it. However, after 9 months the bulb started flickering, I switch the bulbs, same issue with the new bulbs. Took the dimmer out, bulb worked perfectly again. So anyway, great product, but not reliable.

Would order this again
Received this yesterday and so far I am very pleased with this little gadget. I have several lamps with 3 way switches. I love controlled lightening but the 3-way bulbs are expensive and the lowest wattage seems to be the setting that burns out the quickest. And the one I use the most. This dimmer switch works with 3-way bulbs as well as with regular bulbs. I am using it now with a 30/70/100 3-way that has the 30 watt setting is burned out. I set the bulb on the middle setting and the dimmer switch works fine with it. I can dim down from the 100 watt setting to night light mode to totally off and everything in between. After this bulb is totally burned out I will just use a regular 100 watt bulb and have all the settings I want. I'll never have to buy the most expensive 3-way bulbs again. Yay!

Love it!!
I love this. I have a beautiful sconce that is on the wall by my bed but it is not a dimmer. I was about to buy another one but was ecstatic when i found this. It is awesome! It still goes to full brightness but can go way down for when I just need a tiny bit of light. i can even turn it so there is no light but i just turn the power switch at that point. Kind of difficult to use with narrow lamp shades unless you have tiny hands. would be great for lamps with wide shades.

Defective design? Or broken ?
I bought this but it doesn’t work at all . Not sure if it is broken missing something ( though all seems to be here ). I just wonder if it is a product that doesn’t work and don’t want anyone to get hurt trying to make his work . I tried to get in touch with someone to find out what problem is but haven not been able to so would appreciate anyone who knows anything about this to contact me thanks
