A Phrasebook, not a Teacher
The only thing this CD is good for is being a phrasebook. Unlike Pimsleur, it doesn't teach you anything about the grammar, make you repeat words over and over, and doesn't check and see if you remember what you learned a few lessons ago. I recommend using this only as a phrasebook to take with you to Japan, or just to further your learning of Japanese (but you will have to use self-discipline to make yourself study these phrases, since the CD isn't doing it for you).If you want to learn Japanese, I recommend getting the Pimsleur CDs to start with. It's done more for me than my 3 years of Japanese class at school. About halfway through, get a grammar book or look at the phrases in this CD. You truly do get what you pay for.

Japanese CD
This CD audio contains basic phrases, not much grammar practice. Conversations are kind of dated, seems like it's for travellers who stay in hotels and send their laundry out for cleaning. Has some useful phrases.

Great!!
I love this CD product. It has all the basics....numbers, greetings, everyday phrases needed to survive on a journey to another land! Loved listening to the two people on the CD; it was very easy to understand every syllable spoken.

Functional, dated.
I have the CD edition. It certainly is a functional way to hear pronunciation of common words..This was mostly recorded in 1959, and the topics reflect this. Of course people in 1959 still needed food and train tickets; but you'll find no mention of WIFI or internet access or reloading a mobile phone, and plenty about cigars and ashtrays. I also found the organization odd; it was weird to have something as basic as "numbers" as nearly the last audio track in the entire set.

Not for me
If you want to learn a language from audio then try and find the "brand teach yourself" or if your really lucky you may stumble on old readers digest trust me they are the best I don't rate this pimsuler company I think its bobbins!!!

still too new to say more
i purchased this for my daughter, and she said all it teaches is phrases, rather than how to speak the actual language. It doesn't teach you how to build sentences on your own. Doesn't teach grammar.

Fun and Helpful
My niece loved this CD. It helps her improve her Japanese language. She doesn't have a Japanese teacher and any audio files she can put her hands on would help. Good product.
