Can be a really great craft.
I bought three of these DYO sets for my kids: The Princess Carriage, Monster Truck and PlaneI am going to write this review for all 3 of them because they are the same as far as quality and assembly go.I want to offer some tips and solutions for problems that other reviewers have stated.First, let's be clear that this is a children's craft! It is messy, fun and isn't going to be perfect. Even though you do come out with wooden toy when all is said and done, it is a craft, not a high quality wooden toy. If you want a high quality wooden toy, go buy one that is already made.Second, I would not advise using the white glue that comes with the kit, instead use Elmer's wood glue or similar and apply with a qtip. The white glue will take a long time to set and will not bond as well.Several reviewers said "the wheels don't turn". I suspect that this is because whoever put the wheels on glued the whole axle into place. If you put a drop of wood glue into the hole on one set of the wheels and then insert the axle dowels, put the axles through the wooden holes on the vehicle and then repeat the wheels on the opposite side and wipe away any excess glue- then the wheels should spin freely after drying. For this reason, I would not advise that you let a child glue the kit without assistance! It is true that the axles are a bit too snug for the wheel holes. It varies per wheel, if you don't want to fight with it you can sand/file down the tips of the dowels but I was able to just lightly tap the wheels on. Try your best to get them straight and they will be fine (more so if you use wood glue). It is also true that the paint is not washable. Not every craft in a child's life is going to be washable so prepare for a mess with these tips:1- leave the children in an old pair of shorts or something you don't care if it gets ruined. I wouldn't advise throwing a smock over good clothes because it can get messy.2- cover the surfaces in newspaper, a drop cloth or paper towels.3- keep baby wipes or an old wet washcloth near while your little artist(s) is(are) painting! You can apprehend a lot of mess if you desire by wiping their hands and/or their brush when a bit too much paint builds up.4- if you need to remove paint from a non-cloth surface (table, floor, skin), the paint will come off with nail polish remover.I heard a few people mention that the stickers can peel off or not stick well. Remember that this is a craft, and they are just regular stickers. They may peel off. Make sure the paint is completely dry before trying to put them on.All in all, these are great little crafts for the price and all 3 of my kids (ages 2, 4 & 6) truly enjoyed them.

My toddler loves!
The Melissa & Doug Created by Me! Monster Truck Paint Kit is a huge hit with my little one! It’s such a fun and creative activity that keeps them engaged for hours. The kit comes with everything needed to paint and decorate the monster truck, and the colors are vibrant and easy to apply. It’s a great way to encourage creativity while also giving them a finished product they’re proud of. Perfect for kids who love both arts and trucks—highly recommend!

Creates busy time for girls and boys 😄
Easy for kids and you can get 2 for different look. Only thing I thought they were overpriced even on sale.

Great kit
Great paint kit! My almost 4-year-old absolutely loved putting this together. Only problem was that the brush wasn't packaged properly so it was damaged and unusable. Considering that this is a painting project, that's kind of a big problem lol. We had to use another paint brush that we already owned.

great party activity and gift
These were a big hit at my son's birthday party. With a few sticker sets, the boys and girls got really creative. We bought some Gorilla Glue that was fast drying to use instead of the white glue, since we wanted the kids to be able to race the trucks on a homemade race track (pinewood derby style) right away. The one caveat for parents is that this kit, like many DIY kits, should have some parental help for glueing the wheels to the axles. Many kids who did it on their own didn't push the wheels far enough in, or slightly crooked, so the trucks didn't roll properly down the track. Fortunately, none of the kids got too upset about that!

This monster truck wooden build kit is awesome!
This monster truck wooden build kit is awesome! My nephew (5 years old) wanted to make a monster truck Christmas ornament. When I came across this kit I knew it would be a perfect fit. The quality of the wood pieces and the supplies were excellent. With help, my nephew was able to glue the parts together and add the stickers. He was able to paint the truck on his own. We used a staple gun compatible with wood and stapled some jute to the roof of the truck and was able to hang it on the Christmas tree. It was an appropriate weight and did not droop. I'll definitely use Dough and Melissa in the future!

Great gift - and value for the price!
Cute and simple, exactly as advertised. Comes with paint and a brush, some stickers, and the assembly pieces. My son got a lot of fun out of designing it himself. Great Chanukah gift
