Awesome Upgrade for Xbox 360 Slim
Purchased May 21, 2015 to upgrade the storage capacity on my Xbox 360 Slim. We use this as our primary entertainment system, so it is loaded with apps from Amazon Prime, ESPN, Movies and a variety of video games.Regarding 500GB storage space, keep in mind the Microsoft system files reserve a significant portion of the drive in order to operate, consequently 500GB is physically there, but not 'available' for storage and game play. This is true with 20GB, 120GB or 1TB hard drives, even on a PC, so do not assume some defective sector exists, as this simply is not accurate. To capture information from your original drive, simply place a memory stick (up to 2TB) into an available USB slot, go to your dashboard, access storage and transfer the data over to the memory stick. Then insert your new hard drive, and transfer the data from your memory stick onto your new hard drive. Although dreadfully slow, it really is that simple (if your Xbox is sporting the latest console updates to support large hard drives and USB memory devices).Bottom line, this item arrived quickly and worked perfectly out of the box. We're a couple of months in with some heavy usage and have not experienced any issues with performance.I hope this helps.

Great value, get the 500gb
One month in and it's still great! I had a little trouble at first where I didn't push it in all the way so the xbox didn't recognize it. So I pulled it out and put it back in all the way and turned the system on. Bingo! 470GB available. I then proceeded to install 4 games from disks and 3 from xbox live with no problems. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially the 500 since its only a little more expensive and you'll only buy a HDD once, so you might as well go big and never have to worry about running out of space EVER!!!

Great drive, but won't doesn't contain the software to play games made for the original Xbox
This drive has performed well so far. I only have one caveat. I put this in an Xbox 360. Non-Microsoft drives do not have the software required to play games from the first generation of Xbox. I was able to find the software to install in Partition 2 and make those games work, after searching the internet. Fortunately, I had the hardware to connect the drive to my PC. So, if you want your Xbox 360 to be able to play Xbox games, either buy a Microsoft drive, or be prepared to do a little work to make that happen.

Not certified, does not play origional xbox games, works well otherwise
The drive seems to be working well, but since it's not a certified drive, I had to restore the 2nd partition(contains the original Xbox emulator data) in order to play original Xbox games. After i did that, it allowed me to play the old have as well.

Failed after a week "unformatted" error...purchase genuine Microsoft!
Mine seems to be a lemon. Worked great for a week. Then suddenly my xbox was reading it as "unformatted". So now I have to purchase a data transfer cable and I'm spending the money on a genuine Microsoft HDD and I'm going to try to salvage my hundreds of hours of saves by transferring to my PC. Honestly this whole thing is total BS. There is absolutely no reason a hard drive should fail like this after a week. My theory? Microsoft produces these crappy "generics" or sells the ones that don't pass quality control to generic companies because they know they'll fail and direct consumers to purchase genuine products. What a waste.

not for the 360 E.
Ive purchased the 500Gb from zgear and upon inserting it into the xbox360, it has only 32gb of space. Im contacting the dealer in hopes of remedying the situation.Update: I've contacted seller and am awaiting return approval. This drive just doesn't want to be accepted by my 360. The only way for my xbox360 to see it is if i attach it as an external drive. My PC views it and it is in fact a 500gb drive, but the 360 won't see it unless it's an external. This drive is useless as an external because the 360 will only accept up to 32gb of space so the rest would be wasted. I need this as my primary drive so back to seller it goes. I hope to get a working one that I can just pop in and go. Still a great price if you get a working one. I will re-rate when I get a working item.

Super easy to install
Super easy to install, works great. We had the basic 4GB Xbox 360 slim and had run out of space. Not tech savvy when it comes to gaming devices, so I read reviews, ordered, crossed fingers and hoped for the best. This was a gift for my kids for Christmas. I just opened and plugged in and that was it! Kids are happy because they are able to download games now, and mom is happy because I didn't have to do anything :)

Won't play original XBox games - otherwise totally great.
The good news is the it loads into an XBox 360 just fine and the disk space is available ... as advertised. Loaded Halo 4 maps on it and Forza 3 stuff ... I was happy. Until I tried to run an older XBox game.Whatever M$ is using to check for this being a valid drive fails when I try to load XBox games. I even spent 10 minutes onlin with M$ Support, but they confirm it must be a Real(tm) MS device to play original Xbox games. It is a fine Hard Drive, but since it doesn't do the one thing I need it to do .. it is a paperweight.
