Unique, heavy, just what I wanted
Went in search of a flat tip spoon and was really pleased by the look of this set. Got it and am impressed by the weight of it. Stylish and comfortable in hand.

Best! I've bought 3 or 4 sets over the last 15 years
Where do all the forks disappear to? Why do I keep having to buy new sets to replace these? I am going to blame my kids. I continue purchasing because the quality and design are consistent and a great value for the cost. They are heavy and do just fine in my dishwasher.

Now I have 3 sets
I bought one set and liked it so I imediately bought another set. Then years later and more people in the house... and I suddenly found myself needing more. I was thinking... dang, I don't want to find another whole set and have to buy three new sets. But I looked around and found these and I'm not even sure how I found them to be honest. In any case... these are awesome. The definition of good flatware is that it has some heft. My test? Can I scoop rock hard ice-cream with it and not have it bend? With these the answer is yes. I am not sure many flatware spoons out there can handle such a task but these do. In fact, I don't even have an ice-cream scooper at my house right now because of this.Over time I have found that there will periodically be a small spot of... rust? I'm not sure what it is but it is brownish in color and will result when the knife is let to dry with standing water on it (i.e. someone washes it but doesn't set it vertical to let it drip dry). It will scrub off and won't return so if it was metal deep in knife (mostly I've seen it on knives) I would think that it would repeatedly return as once oxidization starts, it generally continues unless addressed. But this goes away so I'm thinking that the water is simply reacting with a small later of the piece - a very, super minor surface rust. Who knows. It cleans up and still is passing the ice-cream test so I'm happy.

perfect
Finally found this as a match to some pieces that I had. The knives are weird, the "FULL" sized forks and spoon are big but ---the small forks and spoons are perfect

LOVE THESE
I received this same set from Bed, Bath, Beyond as a wedding gift 13 years ago, the same set still looks brand new in my drawer! I just needed more of them. :-)They are thick, don't taste like metal, and dishwasher approved.LOVE this set. Now I just need to find the matching serving set

Beautiful, dishwasher friendly.
The item was beautifully packaged. It added extra excitement to discovering the contents inside. The size of the silverware in continental. From a website describing this type of silverware is this description:"Continental Size silverware is traditionally popular in European countries. While it is becoming increasingly popular in the US, it is still traditionally European. The set is hallmarked with a longer Dinner Fork, Place Knife, and Soup Spoon."This continental size is similar to traditional dinner flatware, but noticeably larger than place size flatware, which is popular in America. However, European size flatware is increasing in popularity. I was not remotely put off by the size of the flatware, as it fit comfortably in my drawer divider, which is nothing "special", pretty typical flatware organizer. It didn't give me any issues with the dishwasher, either. It also fits comfortable in my hands. In flatware preferences, I require that it is dishwasher safe, because hand washing every spoon, knife and fork seems rather unbearable, if only because of my laziness and penchant for time efficiency. They come out of the dishwasher clean and streak free, retaining their original aesthetic beauty. Usability + aesthetic beauty is a win in my book.It comes with: dinner fork; dinner knife; salad fork; soupspoon; teaspoon. It server four. The Balance style flatware is elegant and modern in its design, but not over-the-top. It is dishwasher safe and unobtrusive in its size. Oh, and they look and feel expensive. All in all, a fantastic buy at the pocket-friendly price of 35 USD. Surprisingly fast 2-day shipping was a great bonus.

This silverware set has ruined my standards- BEST SILVERWARE EVER
EDIT//5 months later, I am still in love with these and stand by my review. Still no rust spots. No visible damage, and I'm not exactly OCD with how I care for dishes.END EDIT//Original Review:I'm not sure I will ever buy a different set of silverware. I purchased these because my friend has them and I am obsessed with them. The shape of the spoons is just fabulous. I LOVE the flat edge rather than the pointed edge. The "flat" finish of the silverware is also nice; it doesn't leave fingerprints or obvious water spots. They also just feel nice- the flat finish makes them feel smooth, and the weight of the silverware is good (I never considered this until reading other reviews). **if you like the shiny finish, gourmet settings has a line called "cruise" that is the same but polished.**Someone else posted about rust spots- I've put mine through a couple washes, and my friend has had theirs for YEARS. Neither of ours have shown any such spots. My guess is that this person needs a new washer that actually dries the dishes. If you leave water on metal, eventually it will rust. The knives ARE long. I have the Seville Classics Expandable Bamboo Cutlery Drawer Organizer, and I will tell you that the knives barely fit. They can't be straight up and down, but just slightly slanted. So if you have that sort of OCD, don't buy this combination.
