My favorite thermometer
Have bought a few of these because they are my favorite among the ones I've tried. Nice large numbers and large display, high contrast LCD. Pretty long battery life, even with rechargables. The sensor batteries especially last a long time (I use lithium so I don't need to change them much, lasts well longer than a year). Nice to see the humidity levels inside and outdoors.Up to three channels for multiple sensors. It can progress through each sensor, showing the value, then moving to the next. Or you can set each one to show just a single sensor, and flip through by touching the screen. Very functional touchscreen. Nice blue light when you want it. Seems like good accuracy.I keep one in the fridge too, and put a sensor down on the bottom shelf in the back. That gives me two temperature measurements so I can keep it good and cold but without freezing stuff in the back.I don't like the white color. It visually dims the display effect. So I put some black gaffer tape along the edges to make it completely black. I think it looks much better this way, and also gives it a nice grip texture. I think they should make them flat black not white.Great product, have had a few for several years, no failures. It's the only kind I use now.

Worksd very well. Good reception. Easy to set up
I used this to check the humidity in the crawl space. I was debating encapsulating the area and wanted to check humidity levels. I’ve spent t lot of money replacing joists under the house and want them protected (especially from a white wood eating mold). Using these I was easily able to watch humidity levels in three areas of the crawl space and it was obvious from the results I needed to encapsulate the space among other things. Spent a bunch more money encapsulating the area. Readings are now in the normal level range.Cons: Supplied batteries die quickly. I use Copper top Duracell. If the location is hard to get to, I'd put good batteries in immediately.Pros: Simple to set up. Do that before you install. Reception works perfectly. I was surprised at this. Accurate. Easy to understand. Reasonably priced.

Awesome
Works well on standard batteries. I tried rechargeable and the sensors did not work very long and blue light was too weak to see

UPDATE...Been 3 1/2 YEARS now...
UPDATE...I came in to order another Vivosun thermometer (but this time with multiple sensors) and thought I'd update this review. Everything from the original review still applies and after 3.5 years this product is still a full 5-star rating...why?- Battery life is really good, (quality IC design). A total of 4 aaa batteries get replaced 2 times each year and I live in a climate where it is hot & humid in the summer and COLD in the winter.- It is more accurate than its own specs state. For the unit I received, the temperature is accurate to within 0.5°F (as measured against a very accurate and calibrated thermometer). The indoor hygrometer syncs very closely with my dehumidifier's humidistat.- It is high quality and does exactly what it says it will do. I replaced a similar style (but apparently lower quality) brand, after it quit working within just a few months. This Vivosun is still working perfectly.- It is expandable (up to 3 sensors). If you don't want to have 3 screens to read 3 areas, that's OK. Just buy another sensor or two and add them to your current unit. Sets up just as easily as the single sensor did.- No need to install an app. This uses local wireless RF (not 802.11 networking)A couple of extra notes:- The backlight stays on for 10 seconds/tap (good for battery life but needs an extra tap if the room is dark and you're cycling through 3 sensors).- If you have multiple sensors, you can set the display to show 1 sensor (and manually tap to see the others) OR you can set the display to cycle continuously through all sensors (at 5 second intervals). This is not listed in the instructions but is a welcome feature. One person's opinion: This item is worth every penny at twice the price. Seriously, this is the one you want to buy.ORIGINAL REVIEW from 3 years ago:Been a couple of months now...Wanted to see how it was before writing a review. In short, it's pretty good. I can't really find anything that should knock off a star. The display is large enough to read from about 10 feet (3 meters). A lower-left screen-tap turns on the back-light for a few seconds. The outdoor sensor reads pretty accurately and the humidity sensor seems to work well enough too. No wires is nice, and so far, the battery does not show any signs of wearing down yet. So overall, I'd recommend it and so far, I'd buy it again.

Set up in 2 secs and love it!
Works just as described if not better. The weather channels are always centered in populated areas and I don't live there. This lets me know exactly what the temperature and humidity is in my backyard. It don't get no more accurate than that!It probably took me about 3 minutes to set up, and most of that was reading the instructions and paperwork that came with it. Really I think all you have to do is plug in the time and time zone. After that you just have to find the right spot to place to hang the outside part. No direct sunlight, no harsh winds. It's more or less a matter of common sense. It's not big and ugly so it usually sits on our coffee table. We had a lesser version of this that only told the temperature. It finally went after about 7 years so we got this and we're both extremely pleased (the HB and me). No more going out over or under dressed because we didn't take the humidity into account. What a difference that makes!I highly recommend this. If need temperature and humidity for both indoors and outside, this is your baby. Plus... you can buy extra units (three total) to put in other places. I'm in the process--well, I will be in winter--of trying to determine whether I should store paints and even extra canned food in my three season sun room or my garage. I'm not sure which spot is less likely to freeze. No use for frozen paint, even for touch ups, and frozen soup just doesn't taste good. You know?Great little set and very fairly priced!
