These are very hard and sturdy and cannot be cut with regular scissors.. I bought them thinking they would be similar to the PME ones you can buy in Hobbycraft (basically just jumbo sized straws) but these are much thicker, so item was not what I was expecting, and had to get my husband to saw them down to size but I wasn’t complaining as I knew they would be much sturdier. Just be aware you will need the right tools to cut them down to size 👍

A little hard to cut but great for tiering cakes.

I bought these to use to support my plants. Brilliant for holding my 30cm ish plants straight.

These cake rods are absolutely perfect they also come in a nice clear zip bag easy to store and put away bargain.

I used these rods in my niece's tiered wedding cake and they worked perfectly. The cake never moved or slid. I cut the rods to size with a pvc cutter (not included). After so much work on the cake, I was happy to have a sturdy rod to hold it in place.

Use these to support a layer cake I was baking that had a second tier on it. Never made a multi tiered cake before, so I researched and found that using these dowels would keep the top tier from crushing into the bottom tier. The best part about these as I was able to easily cut them to the exact height that I needed since it would be different every time based on the height of the bottom tier of your cake. I saw these in wood also, but wanted these plastic ones because I knew I could wash them and then easily cut them with just a serrated knife. The pack came with plenty for me to use in the future and the price was very reasonable.

I bought these out of desperation because I couldn’t get my normal plastic dowel in on time for a wedding cake. I’m switching forever. These are very stiff & sturdy plastic; I was worried they would be hard to cut. I use a dowel cutter & it went through like butter. I just twisted one rotation to score, and another to cut through cleanly (and super straight).
