I would give this four stars, however, the product ordered does not fit the single man kayak, but rather the two man kayak. Instead of sending it back, I took one of the poles closest to the head that fits under the pontoon, and cut 7"1/8 off of it using a miter-box saw with a standard blade. I then used a 3/8" drill bit to create a new hole for the button. After doing this, it fits my solo Advanced Elements Expedition kayak perfectly. Adds a good deal of rigidity to the whole boat. I would recommend this item if you are handy enough to make the modifications.

I never use my Expedition without the backbone because it works so well. Once you get used to installing it you forget about it. The only problem is that it makes setup and take-down a little longer. A pocket in the bow and stern of the kayak would make alignment much easier but it still works well.

if you are over 200 lbs, you will appreciate this reinforcement. keeps the yak rigid and true-running. You don't feel it underneath the inflatable floor.

I bought the backbone after taking my AdvancedFrame Expidition kayak out 3 times without it. It definitely helps with efficiency of your boat. Without it, I noticed a lot of flexing over waves and with it I was able to cut through them more easily. Definitely a good purchase. Kind of annoying that it isn't just included with the kayak though...

Der BackBone ist gut verarbeitet und macht einen soliden Eindruck, allerdings konnte ich ihn noch nicht im Wasser testen. Unzufrieden war ich allerdings mit der Lieferung; die Sendung wurde nicht wie beschrieben frei Haus geliefert , sondern landete wegen nicht beglichener Einfuhrumsatzsteuer im Zoll. Das bedeutete für mich Anfahrt zum Zollamt, ca. 1 Std Zeitaufwand bis der Papierkram erledigt war und Vorlage der Zollkosten, die dann allerdings umgehend von outdoor-shopping Deutschland erstattet wurden. Auf meinen Fahrkosten bin ich sitzen geblieben, auch für den Zeitaufwand und den anderen Unannehmlichkeiten gab es keine Entschädigung.
