Here’s the thing - yes, taking psyllium husk in powder form is more effective than in capsule form. The powder works super well, but at what cost? It’s so disgusting that not only could I not get it down with a liquid, I think it totally ruined applesauce for me forever after trying that trick. The capsules are better than nothing, and I’m way more likely to take them consistently. They are still a good source of fiber and effective for what we all came here for.

My doctor diagnosed me with IBS-mixed and advised me to use a fiber supplement for the rest of my life. She recommended Metamucil, which has a main ingredient of Psyllium Husk. I tried for two weeks, experimenting with the amount I was taking and the time of day. Although it had a positive result, I knew I would not be able to take it for life. Its orange, tang-like flavor and grittiness that turned into a gelatin mess was too much for me. I tried pure Psyllium Husk stirred in diet cranberry juice, which was better as far as flavor, but the texture thing I just couldn’t get over. I then tried Dextrin, which is the main ingredient in Benefiber. It’s a clear, soluble fiber, but didn’t have the same satisfying results. Fast forward to these capsules. I figured out through trial and error that I needed ½ tablespoon per day of pure Psyllium Husk to get results. This equals 4.5 grams or about three capsules which equal 4.35 grams. I’m still experimenting, but I love that I can easily adjust my dosage based on how I’m feeling. The capsules are smaller than a fish oil capsule and they are easy to swallow. I pop in a capsule, drink water and tilt my head down so the capsule floats to the back of my throat. Taking 3 capsules a day, one bottle will last 80 days at a cost of .25 cents per day or $7.50 for a month’s supply. That’s definitely cheaper than Metamucil. This is so much easier than drinking Psyllium Husk and it’s easily sustainable, even on vacation! 👍👍👍

Worth the money. The only thing that I can complain is the taste but otherwise it’s a good product.
