After losing my dad this year, I found myself needing a way to feel close again—to my son, to myself, to something steady. This mom-and-me journal has been such a gift. My son is 10, and I can feel that “my mom is the coolest” phase starting to fade. But this journal gave us a space to connect in a new way—one filled with laughter, curiosity, and honest little moments I might’ve missed otherwise. If you’re a mom navigating grief, big emotions, or just the shift that happens as our kids grow, I can’t recommend this enough. It’s helped us find each other again—on the page, and in life.

My 15 y/o splits time between his dad and me. He lives in NJ, I live in NC. This book has brought us so much closer. We are very open and honest with feelings and experiences through this. It has allowed us to deal with difficult issues that comes with split households, and co-parenting problems. As a mom, I feel like I give him an outlet to be open and honest when he needs to be. I understand and champion each parent’s role in bringing up a young man into adulthood. This book gives him the outlet to let his guard down, and be creative and learn to develop emotional and honest connections. I would buy this over and over again. Perfect for our situation to make us that much closer, when we are so far apart.

I would have given a 5 if not for all the free space. The attention span of a teenager boy doing an activity with their mom is very short esp if they have to write a page of blank paper or draw. Wish they just include more interesting questions on the blank space.

I sought out this journal after reading a gentle discipline book, as the mom and daughter version (I guess the only version at the time), was recommended as a way to reconnect with your preteen/teen. This journal is amazing. We love everything about it. It’s written to my son’s level, and the background from the son and mother are touching. He loves the “rules” and by engaging with this via the structure laid out, it has really helped my son open up to me about things he would never have told me otherwise. This journal is a gift. I want all moms and sons to have one.

This is the second mom and me journal I’ve done w my preteen son. He absolutely loves it, as do I. I can’t recommend enough. It’s a great way to get to know each other better, bond, and have fun.

I am really loving writing in this book with my 11 year old son. The prompts are age-appropriate for him and we've learned a lot about each other. He looks forward to reading what I've written and enjoys writing back to me. I'm VERY pleased with this purchase.
