Item was durable, after 4 years of daily use, the cord finally snapped at around the 9 inch mark. everything else including the cord (except where it snapped) still looks brand new.5 stars because it does still look brand new.

Last a long time and work great

I recently purchased these badge holders and found them to be of good quality overall. They are well-made and durable, which is great for everyday use. However, I encountered an issue when trying to use them with my car parking keycard. The length is a bit too short, making it inconvenient since I have to remove it from my belt whenever I want to go into the parking.If you're planning to use them for tasks that require a bit more length, you might want to consider this limitation. Otherwise, they are a solid choice for general purposes.

Bought this more than 2 years ago, today the plastic loop broke and the retractable is in perfect condition.

I’m sure anyone looking at these as I did, are looking for something that will hold up over time and not lose an important item. I have had many styles and types for a tap card at work. If my holder breaks and my badge falls off somewhere, Im stuck for the night and it’s a big ordeal to get a new one. The reviews I have read on here said a weak point on this is the clip. Im pretty mechanically inclined and so far it looks decent. I am pushing it in about 1/2” which is plenty to get it around a belt loop. Im sure with this style latch, if you forced it further it would break but you can feel the resistance so think it’s common sense. I could be wrong but I will update this review if and when anything fails on this since it’s an important item to me and I appreciate others reviews. I believe this item states that the cord is stainless with a coating. It looks and feels to be true. A review on here said they took a magnet to see but a magnet doesn’t pick up stainless steel. The badge clip on this has fiber woven into it so it looks like if the plastic cracked over time the fibers would still hold the badge. Tension is pretty tight but probably to hold the weight of keys. The end of cord where it meets the badge clip has a metal end that swivels inside the plastic end. I think that helps it not bend and fray when your pulling on it. My cheap ones would break at this point. This looks sturdy and feels sturdy. I received two in the package. Time will tell how it performs. I normally don’t leave a ton of reviews and you do have to take into consideration that out of over 10,000 purchases, some will be negative and possibly because of misuse sooooooo…. I will update if a when something happens. If you don’t see an update, you can look at my purchase date and assume it’s still functioning fine.Just an update… Still working well. The clip lever can pop in front of hook if your careless but this is very typical of this type of hook. I have used this every day since purchase and this happened maybe once or twice. I still would recommend this item.Update: Still working well. Nothing broken. Been 15 months. Definitely would buy againUpdate: One of these broke last week. It’s been 19 months. The swivel plastic piece that attaches to stainless cable cracked and came off. I am going to order another one. Seems worth it to me.Update.. The second one broke at the same spot. It lasted about 20 months. I bought another set.I think they are worth it.

The retractable badge holder that I was issued at work was a cheap piece of junk that quit working in less than a year. I almost lost my ID when it came apart.Rather than ask them for a new one that will do the same thing, I bought this and hoped it would be more heavy duty. Thankfully, it has been so far.I've been using it full-time for about 4 years now without a problem. It still retracts and holds my badge securely, the coated cable has not frayed at all, and none of it shows any wear.I've accidentally left this thing clipped onto my backpack and driven home on my motorcycle at highway speeds. It stays securely clipped even in a 70+MPH slipstream, even with my ID badge flapping in the breeze.The only issue I've had is that the wire clip that holds it to your belt look has started to oblong the hole it goes into in the carabiner portion. When I press the wire clip down to clip it onto my belt, it can sometimes come out of the carabiner. I have to take the time to put the wire back in the tiny hole so I can clip it to my belt. It's annoying but it doesn't really affect the usability. If it does begin to bother me, I have the other badge holder sitting unused in my closet (I bought this as a 2-pack).This is a much better badge holder than you'll typically get from your HR department. If you have trouble with those cheap ones not lasting, buy one of these, even if you have to pay for it out of pocket.
