Catechism of the Catholic Church

I bought this for my personal use since I am completing adult Confirmation this year, which is the last Catholic Sacrament of Initiation that I had skipped when I was a teen. First, other reviews have mentioned missing or repeating pages which does happen often in publishing houses. Nobody is perfect :). Those mentioned pages are 108-157, 852-885, 709-756. So when I first got this book, I took time to skim through each page to make sure my copy is complete, which it is. It took me about 10 careful minutes. I suggest you do this too in case you need to exchange it during Amazon's return window. Second, this edition includes the 2018 addition of the Catholic stance against the death penalty. Other than that, there is also Pope John Paul II's Latin text updated translation done in 1997. You can refer to the 2018 addition on the USCCB's website and buy the 2003 edition if you need to save money, as that edition is half the price. Just want to give you other options as lack of funds should not keep anyone from this book. The book itself is nicely done as any other reference book. There's enough margin space for notes. As with any thick book, the pages are a bit thin so any notes/highlighting/underlining will show through on the other side of the page. I don't mind this at all but it's something to note. I am very happy with this version. For those non-Catholics interested in Catholicism, this may not be the best place to start as it was originally meant for the ordained and above (bishops and priests) although nowadays all Catholics are encouraged to learn and refer to it. IF you are simply interested in Catholicism, and what makes it different from other Christian or Protestant churches, I'd like to suggest "Why We're Catholic" by Trent Horn or "Forty Reasons Why I Am A Catholic" by Peter Kreeft, which both cost much less than this book currently (specially the Kindle versions). They are wonderful explanations in more accessible language which I have read and enjoyed. And then if you are still interested, then the Catechism is a deep dive into Catholic beliefs if you choose to learn more.

very detailed, just what I needed

My first cathecism that I owned. Overall, loved the layout of the book, with margins that allows us to write notes. I used it pretty regularly, in conjuction with the bible. Definite must have for Catholics, especially those who are not familiar with the Church since the times of the Apostles and their successors. The only downside to this book is its size, it's so huge and bulky. If the publisher had one that is pocket sized but still contains the most updated Cathecism, I would've gotten that instead because a book this large is quite difficult to carry around.

This book is the best authority on the teachings of the Catholic Church. I have been a catechist for the last year and thus far used the books provided by the church to teach. With the CCC I feel more secure in the information I use to answer my student's questions about their faith. The whole text is so well organized, first by the four pillars of the church, then subdivided therein, and each paragraph is numbered (so that when you reference it you only need to state CCC and paragraph number), and finally each paragraph has a list of other paragraphs within that relate directly to that paragraph. I have found that it is not only for teaching my students, but through reading it my own faith has grown... reference CCC 94! ;D The text itself is a little bulky, but you can purchase it as an at home study text and while on the go, the publisher USCCB has the entire text on their website for reference. I have not used it yet, but the reference index and appendices at the end (almost the last third of the text) are very detailed and I'm sure will be helpful in the future. Overall, A great purchase for all catechists and great for anyone curious about the church and hoping to strengthen their faith!

Brand New, Thick and complete book. This will last many years. Excellent read for my family’s Catholic faith. Recommended. 5 stars!!!!
