Great stain / dye blocker
There are 2 basic types of carpet protectants. One beads up on surface using DuPont Teflon such as scotch guard etc. The other type fills the voids in carpet fibers where dye and stains attach. This is the 2nd type. Yes it repels at the surface but not as well as a Teflon based product but it allows what would be bad perminant stains to be removed.... unlike the Teflon products.

High expectations but not quite there yet
I am an interior designer and recommend that my clients protect all their new furniture upon delivery. After using Fiber seal, Guardian Seal, and scotchgard for over 20 years, I was really enthusiastic when I heard about the first "green" fabric and carpet protectant without the harmful chemicals. Using the recommended dilution, I experienced water mark stains on a synthetic blend/linen fabric. I had good results when used on 100% linen placemats. I had uneven drying on a napped chenille fabric which required lots of brushing and drying with a hair dryer to raise the nap again. I am going to experiment using part alcohol instead of all water and see if that works better to avoid water marks caused by uneven drying. Since there are no detailed user instructions for various textiles, I will continue experimenting and hopefully can increase my review to 5 stars when I figure out the best way to apply and perhaps customize the ratio of dilution.
