highly recommend this collection of Rumi poems, for those who know Rumi and those who are ready for a first encounter; for those who read the original Farsi, and those who don't. The translations while beautiful and true to the original, are also personal and inspired. This is translation as spiritual practice in the sense that Martin Luther suggests in that great philosophic work on translation, An Open Letter Regarding Translation.

Omid Arabian’s new bilingual translation is important, not only for its subject, but because of the elegance of its language. These selections are Rumi’s most intensely passionate devotions to Shams, his spiritual guide, mentor and friend, with whom he is “immersed in the divine.” As teacher, film editor, and native Persian speaker, Arabian is the ideal translator of such esoteric poetry. This book is a must read for anyone interested in Sufism, Rumi, Shams e Tabrizi, and the inner journeys of love.

I honestly purchased this book because Beyonce named her daughter Rumi. I don't read books twice but this is one of those books that I will revisit time and again throughout my life. My soul feels connected after reading Rumi's works. I pray it does the same for you.

One of the best gifts a couple can receive that believes in traditional wedding ceremonies accompanied by inexpensive gifts. This book is considered a very good gift to give.

It's not the best quality feeling of an actual book. Feels weirdly flimsy in my hands. Nothing to do with the actual words, messages, or the translation, these aspects I enjoyed.

More than any other art form, poetry tends to get lost in translation. While many have tried hard to translate Rumi's poems, they fell short of conveying the poet's true meaning. Omid has been able to deal with this matter effectively and hence deliver a book that's simple to understand and easy to follow. Well done!

I highly recommend this new translation to fans of Rumi and seekers alike. Arabian has succeeding in removing language barrier between English speakers and the mystical world of Rumi, and has presented us with an invitation to explore the great mystical questions of our existence.
