Buy, buy, buy!
If you've read the Goldratt novels and want to study his techniques and tools in greater depth, this book does the job.I've bought a number of non-fiction Theory of Constraints books, and wished I got this one first; there would have been very little need for any other, except perhaps Dettmer's 'Goldratt's Theory of Constraints', and Newbold's 'Project Management in the Fast Lane.'APICS is doing the rest of us a great service with their TOC series, and this book is a must.

A Big Improvement On It's Not Luck
I found "It's Not Luck" by Eli Goldratt a frustrating read. The Theory of Constraints Thinking Processes were clearly powerful tools for diagnosing problems and implementing solutions and taking TOC out of the factory floor and into the boardrooms. But I found the tools abstract and confusing."Thinking For A Change" solves this problem and gives the reader a solid understanding of the main tools and the confidence to have a go at using them. That's the important thing, using the techniques because it's the only way to develop a deeper understanding of the ideas. These thinking tools use some strange words and it is quite hard to get them clear in your mind without going through some examples and working through the logic yourself.About my book reviews - I aim to be a tough reviewer because the main cost of a book is not the money to buy it but the time needed to read it and absorb the key messages. 5 stars means that I think that overall it has some vital messages in it.Paul Simister, business coach
