There was a lot of additional information that is useful, especially to a student
I am a student currently studying this shakespeare book at A-Level. Despite not being a 'hard-back' book, the cover is thick and does' ruin when cared for. The scene summaries in the back were unexpected but gratefully accepted. There was a lot of additional information that is useful, especially to a student, and it even refers to a lot of the plays of this book and the various interpretations. The layout of the text is very useful; the script along the top and middle section of the play and bellow is the definition of the shakespearian words and the words of that particle era. If you are a student looking for 'Measure for Measure - Shakespeare' I would absolutely, whole-heartedly recommend this text and would note that a useful, reliable quote is, "some rise by sin and some by virtue fall". Also, at the end in Act 5 where Lucio speaks Latin and in translation reads, "a hood does not make a monk", (very relatable to the common themes in the text of secrecy and hidden identity).

Beyond Measure
“His givings-out were of an infinite distance/From his true-meant design.” Lucio's words about the "absent" Duke resonate strongly because there is a nagging, elusive quality to this play to which they somehow allude, something reticent lying just beneath the surface patterns of WS's brilliant verse that I can almost grasp... but not quite. MFM, for all its claims to be a comedy, is a dark work, evoking the finality of death in the way Philip Larkin's terrifying poem Aubade does, and the prospect of torture (physical and spiritual) and execution is never far away. I am coming on like one of the professional critics (wofflers) I usually deride here, so let's just say this edition is as good as any in this marvellous series, with detailed notes and accounts of performances shot through with insight and intelligence. The play is too complex to have a simple message but "O, what may man within him hide, Though angel on the outward side!" seems an observation and a caution we should all heed. WS is so good it's distinctly odd - so we're back to the opening words here.

Great version
Trusted version from RSC -- used it for stage work. Not too durable, it's completely bent up just by opening the front cover, but still worth what I paid for it!
