Solid Rechargeable Version of Excellent M&P 12--@ 660 Lumens on 18650
Further Update: 12/20/2017I had a failure in the charging port plastic insert and they sent me a new flashlight. I am using this light everyday during my walks to flash at cars to make sure they see me. I could also use if for defensive purposes if need be. I don't go anywhere without it. The fact it is rechargeable is a big plus. Get one, you won't regret it.Further Update: 12/26/2016I don't even bother use my M&P 12 anymore--this one is more than adequate and is rechargeable, so I don't need to keep on replacing CR123 batteries, as I did with the M&P 12. However, I use my Galaxy AA more than this.Further Update: 6/24/2016I "lost" the flashlight, it was no where to be found. Then as I was driving up my driveway a few days later, lo and behold, it was laying there. It had rained even, and it was debris ridden, but it still worked--cleaned it up and as good as new. Of course, good thing I had screwed the charging port cover closed so the water did not get into it.I wonder if I had ran over it with my car would it have broken?Update: 6/7/2016:I need to update this to be fair in reflecting my added experience. I am liking this flashlight better and better as I use it, so I am upgrading it to 5 stars from 4. The fact that it is rechargeable is the big plus.As mentioned, I have the M&P 12 and the Galaxy Elite 2 AA as well. I rarely use the M&P 12 anymore; this Solstar rechargeable is my goto when I need more lumens than the Galaxy Elite 2 AA--which is the one I use the most often. This light is not as bright as the M&P 12, but the M&P 12 is almost too bright.Update: 5/13/2016I did not run the test with 2 CR123's, but I compared a fresh battery M&P 12 with supposed 875 Lumens to this fully-charged Solstar with the 18650--supposed to be 660 Lumens. There is apparent difference, with the M&P 12 being clearly brighter, but not by much--215 Lumens difference in theory, but to the naked eye, how to judge.Edit Correction: 4/15/2016ALERT: It is highlighted in big letters as 800 lumens on the packaging--but in the actual product insert it is stated as: 800 High & 27 Low (2h H/30h L) only with two CR123; but with the one rechargeable 18650, the lumens are 660 High & 27 Low (4h H/39h L). Since it comes with the single 18650 rechargeable as standard, and not the CR123's, it really should be listed as 660 Lumens, not 800 Lumens. This is deceptive listing. Taking one star off for deceptive advertising. When I got it, I thought it was 800 Lumens, comparing it to my discharged M&P 12 which only ran on low; I could not really tell it was not 800. I will need to put fresh batteries in the M&P 12 to get to 875 Lumens to compare--275 Lumens difference should be apparent. Then I need to run it with CR123 to compare.>>>>Quite expensive but seems solid. I bought it because it is rechargeable--I had bought the S&W M&P 12, which did not come with rechargeable batteries, and not so recommended either--only CR123--and it ate batteries. This is not as comfortable fitting in the hand as the M&P 12, and seems a bit lighter duty, but it has the same three functions. It does not have a belt clip. It is 800 (on CR 123--see correction above) versus 875 lumens for the M&P 12. A price differential of $25 which should be recouped through savings in batteries at $4 per replacement. Of course the replacement rechargeable battery will cost more--so if can get enough cycles out of this, it should be a wash vis-a-vis the M&P 12.Both are solid over competition. Please note that PowerTech got sold out, but warranty will still be honored..

Do not stop making this light!!!!!!
This is the best general purpose flashlight...………… ever. The amount of lumens is plenty as a practical matter.Like everything else in physics, there is an exponential increase in the amount of energy required to go just a little further in effect. In other words, buying an exotic 3500, 10000, 12000 lumen flashlight doesn't get all that much brighter. It seems that around 700 is the 'sweet spot'. The more powerful flashlights burn up the batter (and your hand) because they cannot sustain their top lumen number for very long before overheating. This flashlight isvery bright, does not overheat, and recharges quickly. It is TOUGH. Don't spend more, it's high quality. Keep this available; it's the best!

but as my eyes adjust to the darkness low beam is perfect. High beam is more than adequate
The flashlight arrived a month ago. I use it every morning for at least 30 minutes well before morning twilight. At first the low beam seems quite dim, but as my eyes adjust to the darkness low beam is perfect. High beam is more than adequate. It easily illuminates wildlife such as skunk, porcupine, raccoon, and white tail deer. The charger recharges the battery easily. The knurling provides a good grip and is easy on the hands. The holster seems a bit short at first, but with tugging on the holster and pushing on the light, the light will fit snugly into the holster. I do not use the lanyard. The on/off switch on the end of the light works well, but I wonder how it will work outside while wearing gloves. Seems OK in the kitchen - we’ll see. Also great around the house. High beam really illuminates dark spots when looking for pet toys under or behind furniture.I purchased this flashlight because the name Smith & Wesson has always meant quality. I was not disappointed. Great flashlight.

Police Light
Great flashlight for police work. It is definitely powerful enough to shine through tinted windows and the light itself is very rugged. Again, VERY BRIGHT. The flashlight feels quality. I will update this review in about a year to see if it lasts that long

Had it for 2 months quit working, tried another rechargeable battery, fully charged just blinks on clicking on off button, not worth the money. Not its past return time, I believe its the Cree LED and its lifetime warranty...but I believe I should get a replacement...Ordered September 12 2016 now its November 15 2016...just 2 months...BAD

Fits the Ticket
Great little flashlight. Fits the hand well & has nice weight & balance. Would be 5 stars if it could narrow its brightest stream to focus on a single object.
