Linksys AC2600 Max-Stream MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Router - EA8500 (Renewed)

I bought two to setup one as access point. The first was DOA. The wi-fi didn't work. I spent to much time second guessing myself that I was doing something wrong. I have owned linksys routers for 20 years. I switched to the second router and it works as designed. The signal is strong and covers my 3800 square feet two store house. It is mounted to a wall in the laundry room. When I went to return the first router, the seller wanted me to pay for shipping. I said no, then they issues a prepaid shipping label. That was odd. I will probably order a second router again to use as an access point so I can get more signal in the back yard. I like the builtin parental controls vs. having to go to the cloud like other routers. Guest mode is browser password based and not secure, but I don't care. My guests all have VPNs anyway, or, I can let them use my SSID. The app control is nice. I like IP reservation. I haven't tried hooking up USB storage. I also bought the extended warranty for a few bucks.

I will start off with the excellent speed in shipping. Phenomenal!The router did not come with the quick setup guide which has the password and instructions for the smart Wi-Fi setup. This smart Wi-Fi is new to me, but i have setup many routers in the past, so it took some time to figure this web based steps out without documentation, but I managed. Early on in the frustration of not having a password and having to setup online first, i did try to call the 24/7 support number, but it rings twice and hangs up. Not good! My speed seems to be nearly half of what my old linksys wrt n router was? I ordered an AC PC card since the PC is still with an "N" PC card, but to lose half speed worries me. Will see if the speed increases when the new card is in. Jury is still out on this EA8500....Okay, new AC network card installed and my speed increased faster then my old "N" card. Still not up to its potential. Now I must look at my modem. Overall works very good even with my NAS

I was a bit hesitant to order this as I looked over the comments and noticed that many people had gotten units that they had to return. wasn't sure if it was worth the discount on the product. But I had reviewed the product and found that it was the one that I wanted to buy. I decided to go for it and I received a unit that is now running without problems. But it wasn't all roses though. One of four plastic feet was missing and one of the four antenna outlets (that you screw the antenna onto) was lose and rotating within the hole it was in. I screwed it tight but didn't bother taking it apart to see if something was broken on the inside as well. The unit works really well despite both of those issues so I am looking the other way on this one as it is a refurbish - which means not perfect, hence the four out of five stars.

I had to return the first one I received because it would never broadcast the wifi and I never got one wifi device to connect to it, even after an hour plus on the phone with support. It worked great as a wired router! So I got my replacement and as I am putting it together I notice that the antennae are all making a rattling noise that I didn't recall hearing from the first one. However this one setup easily and my wifi devices were connected in minutes, the download speeds are two to four times faster than I was getting on my old netgear n device so I am a happy camper for now. Hopefully the hardware quality holds out and the device last until the next huge speed bump in the pipe requires me to upgrade again.

Great router that's super fast with good range. Same speeds as my AC1700 though ( have 150/150 fios) but this router has good range. Very easy to set up however the advanced features are a little lacking. Better than my last router from 4 years ago, but it still does not cover my whole 2000 sq foot single floor house. It worked right out of the box. A fair number of them did not based on reviews. So far it has been worth the $129 I paid for the refurbished one. Would I do it again, yes. In order to cover the whole house I had to put two access points in the far corners of the house with the main router in the middle.

Figured I i couldn't lose trying out one of these refurbs at that price. Package arrived and exactly as described. I was missing one of the rubber feet off the bottom, but linksys was quick to send me out a replacement. The router itself was very simple to install and love being able to manage my network remotely using the linksys smart wifi android app. I upgraded from an Asus and this one easily has complete coverage in my multifloor condo unit. I also bough 2 of the WUSB6300 USB wireless adapters for my PC's and they all connect over 800 meg/sec. I see no difference in latency and throughput compared to prior when I was wired. Highly recommend for performance "bang for the buck".

If it works, you got very good product for half price, if it doesn't you out of luck.Here is my story.We connected router yesterday. The router itself is very powerful and easy to install.But, 2 critical issues have been identified with it in a less than 24 hours.1. WiFi signal was disconnected and reconnected twice with no reason.2. Before I went to sleep I tested internet speed (router was working perfectly fine). On the morning, my devices were connected to wifi, but no internet. My TV and PS4 were connected to router by cable and they also didn't have internet. I reconnected them directly to my modem and internet appears. So as you can see problem not with Modem, but with the router.As I see it, my router has obvious issues. And looks like refurbished process of this product didn't include any repairs or proper testing. Good think about it, Linksys is very strong company and return process shouldn't be an issue. I don't see any reason to replace it with another refurbished model. Sorry, but I wouldn't trust Linksys refurbished quality control. Just installed it 10 days earlier, so far I have experienced reliable and good network coverge from living room to basement and 1st floor of my house. Although I have not installed it ideally in the centre of the house, yet it provides good wifi signals to the farthest corners of my house. It is a good router and certainly recommended. I bought it refurbishedl, as good as brand new at almost 60% price.Update:All well so far. Hope it keeps on working like this. I have asked all network users in my family, all agree on 5 star performance. This certainly is reliable product. Recommended
