Strong and stable - spend the money
The wooden core version soft these plyo boxes are outstanding. When doing plyo, you really want something that gives a solid landing surface and won't budge. Durability and build quality also matter. The wooden core ploy boxes fit the bill. They are very strong and stable while still being comfortable either with shoes or barefoot or other hands, sitting and so on. The quality is on par with high-end gyms I've visited. It's good to know before the jump that you aren't going to take a tumble because the box is unstable or too light. The extra weight provides much more control. The cushioning is still good enough if you fall short of a complete landing. You risk greater injury both with wood boxes and with lighter, cushioned foam boxes that are more likely to move in erratic ways. Prop these boxes against a wall and you're set. As always, add a bit of extra care depending on the size of the box - more control needed for smaller boxes and orientations, and more confidence you can actually make the height for larger boxes and orientations. These also are excellent for combination plyo series using multiple boxes. Hint - it's better to go from smaller to bigger if you are moving directly from box to box rather than landing at a midpoint on the floor between the boxes. You do have to be willing to carry these around to move them, but it's a workout, and worth the extra effort. Better to spend the money on high quality rather than adding risk of a visit to the emergency room, IMO. I'd give it six stars on a five star scale if I could.

Perfect Plyometric Box for my Kids
Got this Plyometric box to add to my garage gym for my two energetic kids (8 and 10), and it’s been a total hit! The size I got (16x14x12) is perfect for them – not too big, not too small. It's got a tough wooden core with a cushioned vinyl cover that’s both safe and easy to clean. They use it for jumps and step-ups. The stability is great, so no worries about it tipping over or sliding around during their antics. This box has been a fantastic investment. It's super sturdy, handles all their energy, and keeps them active while I'm with them in the gym. If you need something to keep your kids occupied and off the furniture, this is it. Highly recommend it – just wish it also did chores!

Worth the price!
Quality feels great, I am 200 pounds and feel totally sturdy. My workout partner is 350 pounds and had no issues (no creaking or sounds when using!). The box is a tad small in terms of surface space but the quality for the price is great and it takes up less space if that's an issue for you.

Hardly any padding, but does the job
Seems sturdy and does the job. There's barely any foam, so the "Soft-Padded" part of the product name isn't super accurate. The edges are hard so if you slipped off and hit an edge or corner it would probably hurt! The boxes at my gym that are some other brand have way more padding, which I like a lot better. But that aside, the Plyo-Box will help me keep my legs strong.

Sturdy even with cushioning
This is exactly what I was looking for. It’s very sturdy, but if you miss a jump it’s just soft enough to keep you from bruising your shins. Even on the tallest jump it was still sturdy and didn’t feel like it was tipping due to the cushioning.

Wood core makes all the difference
The wood core plyo box is very sturdy and doesn't rock or move around when doing box jumps. It has a nice weight to it which greatly improves the stability. The flipside to that is moving it around takes a bit more effort; tradeoffs. However, remember the point of excercise is to put in work. So really it's a bonus and it's not overly heavy either way. You can also just roll it end over end to wherever you want if you find it difficult to pick up. The cover seems durable and has a slight texture for traction. The firm 1" foam padding provides a nice layer of protection for your shins. It especially inspires confindence at the 30" height. You are not as worried about the outcome of a miss which allows you to focus on the excercise itself. The box feels nice and firm under foot when landing on it with just enough give to cushion impact. I have used mine multiple times before writing this review and am very happy with it. It's been a great addition to my home gym. As an added bonus my kids like climbing on it and I don't have to worry about them getting banged up since it's padded and doesn't tip over.
