Rembrandt Soft Pastel Micro Set, 5-Piece Half Sticks, Deep Blues

First, the picture is not the best representation of the colors. I think its just the sellers camera or photo settings because ive made several purchases and all the colors seemed darker or not as vibrant as the pics. Dont get me wrong, the colors are rich and the quality is great if you want slightly harder soft pastels. I love them and thats why i have gotten several sets this far. If your shopping soft pastels, i recommend these moderate price sets. I purchased a cheap set with a large amount of colors and they were so bad that i gave them away since id already tried them extensively in hopes of finding quality in thier quantity.

The item along with 12 other sets finally arrived today. they took longer than expected but, I have them now and I'm very pleased with them. They are in perfect condition and in the same beautiful colors as shown on the Amazon website. I really like how they selected the colors for each set. You can utilize a lot from just a couple of a 5 piece pack. Thanks again for the product. I will be back soon.

I was a little disappointed at first that these were half sticks. And pleasantly surprised that these were All Prussian Blue in different values. These are not super soft, so great for layering and adding some dark shading before layering with softer pastels. Feels great in your hand, doesn't leave as much dust. They don't crumble and glide on smoothly

I wou ld have liked to have a very light tan included but all in all, I recommend the product.

This review applies to Rembrandt pastels in general (and this is a nice set of colors). Wow - Using light pressure, I layered three colors on a sheet of printer paper, and no dust fell off when I held it upright. Looking at the color chart on Rembrandt's website, I can't imagine needing any colors they don't offer. I have other professional quality brands, but I think these will be my favorites. Beautiful. (***Update*** - Storm Grays pack of 5 half sticks: Other than the burnt sienna, these are very, very gray, less colorful than the photo.)

I liked Blue! Two of these five pastels were in common with the Rembrandt set of 90, but the addition of the deep dark blue, and the two pale blues, still about half the cost of buying them individually made this a great choice. Rembrandts are medium soft. The pastels feel solid to your hand (unlike Sennelier for example which feels dusty in your hand) but the marks they make are very soft and blendable. I understand why it is considered the essential workhorse of the craft.
