Accuracy test
A previous reviewer said "It is off by 1-3 degrees at 45 and 0 degrees." I found this hard to believe, so I bought one and checked its accuracy with my original Sutherland Tool bevel boss. It agreed with it at several angles. Next, I checked it with my four Starrett combination squares, one of them a compass square. Again, it agreed. The third check was to make a few triangles with the Taytools guage and check them using trigonometry. Again, the tool was accurate. This is an accurate tool. Perhaps the previous reviewer is 1-3 degrees off! The only difference between this tool and the bevel boss, is that the ruler on this tool measures thirty seconds, instead of sixteenths, does not appear to be stainless (very magnetic) and is not a satin finish. This tool is 12.004 inches long and 3.002 inches wide.

Accurate with handy rules on the back
The angles are accurate as measured with a Starrett protractor. The body is 3" wide and 12" long, with a hole for hanging centered on one end. The edges are very smooth and rounded for safe handling. All markings are etched, so they will not wear off, and will remain easy to read for years. My only (very minor) complaint is that the finish is a little too polished for easy reading. A bit more satin would make it easy to read from any angle in any light. Easy to miss in the picture in this listing, there is a 3" ruler along the bottom edge of the front. Also, the backside is not pictured at all, and they made good use of that space. There is a reversible 12" imperial ruler (inch markings read 1-11, 2-10, 3-9, 4-8, 5-7, 6, 7-5, etc) on one long edge, and on the other is a metric centering ruler (0 in the center, moving out to 15 cm at either end). I have a hand plane made by Taytools, and it is truly outstanding (Lee Nielsen level quality). So, I was expecting the excellent build on this simple little gauge. But I was very pleasantly surprised by the rulers on the back. I may be reaching for this more often than I expected. Well done.

Well worth buying
Clear, precise etched markings, much more legible than a typical protractor.

When compared to Incra, General, and other tools in my shop, it is off by 1-3 degrees at 45 and 0 degrees.

Arrived rusted
Disappointed in what I received here - the design is great and I like that TayTools has theirs made with zero actually starting from the ends, unlike every other version of this I've seen from iGaging, etc, etc. Markings are etched, edges are flat and square/parallel. Unfortunately mine had a big crusty rust patch on one portion of the scale - vinyl pouch it comes in appeared old but not damaged or wet or moldy or anything. Amazon made me contact the seller, and since I have ordered from TayTools many times both here and direct from their website, I contacted them on email. It took them a very long time to even reply to me, and when they did, they didn't offer a solution but told me to contact Amazon since it was bought there. I didn't expect that from them. It also doesn't help me since the return window closed and I'm stuck with it now. I can clean up rust and don't mind blemishes but it's just in a bad spot and also affected the lacquer fill on the graduations in that zone. Sour taste on this one. Not going to bother trying to beg Amazon to honor a return outside the time frame...also not sure I'll support TayTools or order from them anymore if that's how their customer service and support has become recently.

Really nice piece of equipment. Unfortunately the included 'sleeve' to is cheap plastic which is dead on arrival. So only buy if you will store it in another way than in the included sleeve. But hey, a good DIY good make it themselves.
