Taste like one I had in Japan. You can make a lot of recipes with miso. Recommend this for beginners because it is mild and good, so it will be good part of natural food journey.

The product I received was a light yellow-gold color as expected. Taste is mild as also expected. You can use as little or as much as you prefer. Some other reviewers said this is not "white" miso but what I received is - I also buy this brand's red miso which is very different in color (darker, red) and taste (much more intense). The value is hard to beat. It stores well in the fridge and in the freezer. Does not lose flavor. I use a lot of miso so it's never stored for very long periods of time. This has become my go-to brand.

Shirakiku Miso Paste is my preferred brand for Miso. It's not as salty as the Miso paste offered locally in the stores here in Fairbanks.It has great flavor and I use it quite often. I have made Miso soup multiple times, Miso Chicken ( also multiple times) salad dressing, sauces, and I'm still experimenting. I made Miso chicken with another brand ( the one available locally) and the chicken came out so salty it was hard to eat. When I made the same recipe with this Shirakiku Brand Miso, it was perfect! It was NOT overly salty, you could taste the miso but also the other flavors (sesame, sugar, ginger, beer) blended well. The Miso soup comes out perfect every time and is so fast and easy! I love Miso and would highly recommend this brand, it's a good price for a large quantity and good quality.
