I recommended this product!
We built a new kitchen 6 years ago in my home and I purchased a new KitchenAid 1/2 HP waste disposer which has worked flawlessly ever since. This KitchenAid disposer is not only better quality but also very quiet. It is a great addition to my kitchen and helps me with my daily chores. Thank you KitchenAid!!

If you have a 1/2 HP Kitchen Aid disposal; get this one and it's a snap to replace
Replaced the same Kitchen Aid garbage disposal 1/2 horse (from 1991). Easy to do with these tricks I culled from reviews here and You Tube. First, buy it through Amazon Prime and pay the acceleration fee to get it quick if you need it. I called several plumbers (my unit started leaking on a Friday) and they told me they could get to it may be Monday or Tuesday of the next week. I went to Home Depot (they claimed to carry Kitchen Aid and this unit) but all they had were the Badger models and it would take 5 days to order on-line and have it delivered to my house or the store--so I went with Amazon--I put my order in on Friday at 10 a.m.; the disposal was delivered by 11 a.m. On Saturday (they guaranteed by 8 p.m.). I didn't check but was told that this is the same issue with Lowes (which also carries this unit). Second, take two things off the old disposal once you get disconnected (watch a couple of you tube videos first). One is the power cord. You will need it for the new unit and the "strain relief" clip (it screws out and you will need that and the two screws and connecting plate). I left in the mounting assembly that was attached to the sink. That simplifies things. I cut a 2 by 4 to put underneath the old disposal unit so that when I disconnected it, it didn't drop. Kind of heavy. I reused that 2 x 4 when I put the new unit up so I had something to hold it up while I attached the mounting gasket from the new disposal unit. That was the hardest part--snapping the disposal to the old mount. But doable. On all the drain pieces, I used Silicone glue (see the picture)--I put it on all the threads for a good seal (recommended by my local hardware store guy)--for sealing the drain pipes. I used all the same pieces--that worked great--the openings and height are the same. The only difference in the units is that the new one has a sound insulator cover that limits the amount of noise that the unit makes--which is an upgrade over the 25 year old unit. That's it.

Kitchen Aid 250G
Disposer arrived on-time from online vendor. Agree with earlier reviewer that it should be shipped in an appropriate carton--not the retail shelf box even though there was no damage. Took me about 2 hours to install replacing a previous Badger 5 that was about 15 to 20 years old and leaking. Works fine thus far after about 1 month's use. Generally quiet and smooth. Reserve judgement to see how long it lasts. Obtained at reasonable price. Decided to avoid a new Badger 5 based on others' reviews. Couldn't see any indication where Kitchen Aid product was made--assume China. Only mild complaints are that the installation directions did not show exactly what the attachment ring looked like so was more difficult than necessary to figure out how to get it released on the model being replaced. Also, no new power cord provided or coupling where cord enters unit so had to use old pieces from Badger 5--seems they should provide these; and finally, to register the product one needs the serial number but they didn't tell you where on the unit it is or to write it down and now that it is installed I can't see it--so much for that part. All in all, seems like a good choice if avoiding new Badger problems--although it looks like this one could also be made by them.

Nice and quiet and easy to install!
IMPORTANT! If you have an older Kitchen Aid garbage disposal KCDB250G3 please note that you may be shipped part number KGIC300H if you order this from Amazon. Don't worry about this, it is EXACTLY the same garbage disposal. I mean exact. To make your life easier, in most cases, leave the sink drain that is already mounted in the sink (the instructions are clear how to handle this). One minor note - The instructions could be clearer with what strain relief / cord grip is needed with the unit (you have to purchase this if your existing disposal does not already have this for reuse). The cord grip / strain relief is 1/2".

Perfect
Perfect replacement for my disposal. It is black and gray and comes with a rubber sink aerator, prying tool, hardware. Need to buy or exchange the power cord and need plumbers putty. Works so far

Serious Garbage Disposer
I like a good garbage disposer in my kitchen. I literally use it every day. So when my old one died, I trust Kitchenaid when it comes to any motorized kitchen appliance, even if it costs a little more. This was easy to install as a replacement with a little research and the included directions. I've had this in use for a few months now, and its working great. Its louder than my old unit, but it's possible that my old one had become quieter (less effective) over time, and I was just used to it. If you have an electrical outlet under your sink, you'll need a cord kit. I used the Insinkerator brand one, and it fits perfectly. You also need either some plumber's putty or clear silicone caulk (if you have a corian sink apparently putty could cause stains) and a screwdriver. As long as the one you're replacing was correctly installed, and similar sized, its pretty easy to do yourself.

Counter composter
Love that I can keep o. The counter. It doesn't smell with the filter in the lid. Its easy to empty with an inside pail and handle.

I had a 15 year old Sears. Took it out and popped this one right back in with no problems took all of 30 minute including emptying and cleaning under the sink. And wow I did not realize how worn out my old disposal was. This is not one of those super quiet ones if you want those well get out your wallet. But it does the job just fine me.

Missing electric connection set.

Very noisy. Was shipped with dents in several locations on the main body. My plumber discovered that and advised me. Wasn't at home during the installation. Too bad it was already installed - would have returned if found out earlier. Needs a special heavy duty toggle switch to wire it right. May return later, though.
