Watch Youtube Video by ColorDreamer2 of "Epson R1900 Bulk Ink CIS Installation" First
I watched the video above first that is in the subject line. It allowed me to follow through the instructions provided with some modifications. Warning, however. When you open up the big rubber plunger, and then open up the small plunger (Breather port), it will shoot ink up and out. Also, only do one ink reservoir at a time. I wound up popping up all the big plungers, and wound up getting black ink in the optimizer ink from when the ink shot up and out from the breather port. Compared to Epson's ink, it is a tad different shade, and with my Stylus R2000, I noticed banding in solid dark colors and the black isn't true black. It may just be my printer with the banding, but when the photo is mixed with lots of contrast, the banding isn't noticeable unless seen up close. The print itself looks great by itself, and is subtly different compared to the actual Epson ink. Of course, Epson ink is copyrighted, and so if it was exactly like it, they would be sued for counterfeiting. So no star marked off just because the ink shades are just a little different. Again, watch Youtube Video by ColorDreamer2 of "Epson R1900 Bulk Ink CIS Installation" first so you can get a basic idea of what to do. Don't forget the rubber gloves and putting down something to catch all the inevitable shooting up of ink!Update: My Matte Black wasn't siphoning, and then after a while, my yellow stopped siphoning as well. I tried everything I could think of, including the dreaded lifting it up over the printer which just left everything a mess. Somehow it got to where there was no air bubbles in the line. Then I tried to do the nozzle check, and it would fluctuate between most lines being there with some breaks, to another nozzle check with lots of breaks in the ink colors. I kept on getting bad banding like mentioned above. Then I finally gave up after doing lots of cleaning of the print head. I got on the internet, and found out there is an option where "Speed", "Quality", and "Quality Options" are. I chose "Quality Options", and unchecked "High Speed". No more banding! YAY!Further Update: The local county fair is going to have a photo contest. I decided to take my best photos, and print out the requirements, which is a color photo, and a black and white photo. The color photo came out fine, but it was during the major printing of the black and white photo that I ran into trouble with the CIS ink system. It gives off a slight olive drab military green color. I wouldn't have minded, but one woman was disqualified for her black and white photo having a tinge of blue color to it. So I tried different settings to no avail. I finally reinstalled the original Epson cartridges, and it was full black and white with no tinge of green. So while this CIS system's inks work well with color photos, it left my black and white photos with a tinge of green. Something to think about.Update April 7, 2014: I realize there is something in the settings making the print come out with a tinge of green. With the Epson iPrint app, the ink is coming out pure black and white. So I now know it is my computer settings keeping the printer from printing without the green tinge. If what I did can be duplicated by others using this system and the Epson R2000 to clear up the green tinge that I just got rid of, the printing preferences settings are as such:I used Photo Glossy Paper. The Matte setting seemed to be worse for glossy paper in clearing up the green tinge, and also made the ink and paper more sticky. I also had it print in color. For photo quality, I set the quality to 5, turned off high speed, and turned off gloss optimizer. For Mode, I chose Adobe RGB, and clicked on Advanced. I set the Gamma to 1.8 for a lighter photo. I put the saturation at -25. Brightness and contrast were not changed. I used the color slide option, and for all three colors of Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow, I slid the sliders all the way to -25. I got rid of the green tinge that affected my photos and seemed to create a more true to life black and white photo. My theory is that the gloss optimizer and the colors are too rich for a pure black and white photo, and need to be toned down in the case of the colors. For the Gloss Optimizer, I didn't want a slight tinge to ruin the photo paper, hence why I turned it off. As for grayscale setting with gloss optimizer off, the green tinge is still there.

A Hot Mess!!!
It was terrible. The installation instructions were impossible to clearly see clearly. Then the removal of a part of my printer caused me to break the printer. So I took it to repair with the system installed and was supposed to work. It did. How? It dumped all the ink into my printer over the weekend. The mess was incredible. I have pictures of the whole mess if you want to see - [email protected] I had to rig the ink lines to work which is a seriously unnatural addition to the printer. Trouble was over $200 in fixes and more in downtime and my printer is still broken technically as the part I had to remove is still off.

Could be a LOT Better
works well, but you have to manually reset the chips, which is a pain.

could use more instructions
After using all the original ink, I installed the cis system. first prints were great, but then light bands began to show up.Troubleshooting instructions were to syphon air out of the cartridges from the bottom. These instructions "how to" were not very clear and incomplete. I finally got the air out of the cartridges by removing all, inverting, and using a lot of pressure inserting the hypodermic into the bottom, tilting the cartridge to draw out the air, I suceeded. After that, the prints cleared up and I have produced some great pictures. I plan on using this system. If the instructions were more complete, I would give this a five rating. I also had some trouble removing the hinged cartridge cover.ELM

Very convenient
Great for an office where there is heavy use of the printer.Only problem is the tubing is a little messy, there is no provisions to insert the tubing into the printer. I needed to cut a little hole but that was easy enough

Waste of money and time.
Instructions were horrible. One tank developed a crack all on its own. Another is leaking. Constantly need to perform head cleaning to prime the ink through the lines if the printer is not used for a day. The fact that each cartridge must be manually reset on can turn out to be a pain if your in the middle of a print job and you need to reset a couple of cartridges, which can take forever since each reset makes the cartridge go through a process. I have finally disconnected it, replaced with OEM cartridges until a different type ink system that I ordered today comes in.
