Photocell works perfect for controlling 12VDC powered LEDs!
I purchased this to control an outside arbor that has LED lights in its leg posts. The arbor came with a wall-wart transformer that provides 12VDC to the LEDs. This photocell works perfectly! For my installation I drilled a hole in my wall next to where TV cables come in, plugged in the wall-wart inside the house and ran the 12VDC wire through the wall. I cut the 12VDC wire from the transformer on the outside of the house and connected this photocell per the instructions below. I mounted the photocell to the wall next to where the wire came through. I was shocked at the delivery time estimate, but I received the item in one week. I ordered it on June 10, 2014, and the delivery estimate was for July 7-23, but I actually received it on June 17 (in California). There was a question posted here in the reviews that asked about how to wire this thing up as no instructions came with it, and the wiring information I needed was posted in response to that question. I can’t address any other installations, but for the 12VDC power I was using this is what worked: Red wire from the photocell connects to the positive lead going to my LED lights. Black wire from the photocell connects to the positive lead coming off my 12VDC wall-wart transformer. White wire from the photo cell connects to the negative lead going to my LED lights, and also to the negative lead coming from my wall-wart. EDIT: Sometime a few months ago (late 2015, early 2016, I wasn't really paying attention) this stopped working, so it lasted a year and a half or so. I could hear a clicking noise and it seemed it was trying to engage but wouldn't hold. This is outside, but we don't get much rain, but it is in the elements, if that had anything to do with it. For the price I would probably order another one.

Useful; good value
Cheap and it works great for controlling my outdoor LED lighting. I wouldn't expect it to last very long if exposed to direct rain. The circuit board inside has no protection against water or corrosion. The wires are also too short to really do anything with, so I had to solder and shrink wrap longer wires onto them.

Perfect switch replacement for Dusk to Dawn sensor switches.
AC DC 12V 10A Auto On Off Photocell Light Switch Photoswitch Light Sensor Switch I couldn't find a good Dusk to Dawn switch in the low voltage range at any of the local big box stores and I'll include the smaller stores as well. I needed to setup 2 different dusk to dawn sensors on my LED exterior home lights. This unit did the job very nicely. Here in Louisiana we have that 99% humidity for days on end that tend to get into anything that is not sealed and even then you can collect water from your cars floorboards if you don't open it up. The plastic cover has a drain hole and is not sealed so it actually allows any standing water to drain. Now, this is not water proof and you shouldn't expect it to last in rain splash zones. It works under the soffits (eves) of the house just fine. Placing two units on my DC lighting allows more charge time for the system in that the east side of the house shuts off prior to the west in the mornings. I do recommend this on off photocell for all your light amperage projects. If you need more amps I would suggest using an external relay. Update: Our Photocell switch ended up underwater for 58 hours during the flood of 2016 here in Denham Springs LA. Even with water inside the unit, mud and river silt it stayed on for another week. I order 2 replacements and have them mounted well above flood stage now. The Cajun Navy working nights saw our LEDs on during the high water period. Only house in the area with exterior lights that work both under water and above water.

Works Great at 12 Volts DC
Did not test on ac voltage. Using this sensor to control an outside LED light on an RV. Low price, but works just as it should! This unit could be used to 'slave' a much larger 12v relay for switching high current draw devices. There is no weather seal around the screw for the mounting bracket. Doesn't appear to be a big deal, but if the sensor will be used in a very wet area, maybe a little sealer would be a benefit. I added a 'customer image' to illustrate the correct wiring for DC operation. EDIT: I now have three of these senors in operation. Noticed that the sensors seem to be extremely sensitive to the light or maybe UV. I had a heck of a time trying to test these once installed outdoors. They will turn on indoors when the sensor is covered. But they don't like to turn on when covered in bright sunlight. Tried covering with my hand and also by putting a leather work glove over the unit. They would not turn on (covered) in sunlight! Maybe aluminum foil would work. So, if you install one of these and it doesn't work when you try to test it during the day, wait 'till dark before concluding it's bad. The relay will probably energize just like it is supposed to once the sun goes down.

and not 12v like it said on the out side and on the ...
The first one I installed, and after spending hours trying to get it to work, I was determined to get to the bottom of the problem. so I opened it up, expecting to see a wire disconnected or such, but to my amazement the problem was in black and white. The components inside said 125v, and not 12v like it said on the out side and on the box. It gets better! So off to the 2nd one of 2 purchased. This time I opened it up first to find that it was the correct voltage(12v). So now when I put It on a test bench to check it out, I still was having problems, and it was not testing correct. Since I don't read whatever the language the instructions were written in and I have worked with similar devices in the past, I messed around to find the wires were not color coded as every other device like I have worked with. The wires were indeed backwards from what the other device I received was wired like also. I actual got it to work, but now only for 1 night. So for some reason, it does its own thing and works for a bit then craps out, to only come back to life a day or two latter. Real junk! I would like

Works as described, used on a 12v DC setup. Turns on my lights about 5 - 10 minutes before solar lights do. It is mounted more under cover than my solar lights which could be the reason. Happy with the performance, although it is early days yet.
