Hamilton Beach Egg Cooker is a must have !
After years of trying every hack I could find for peeling hard-boiled eggs perfectly, I finally decided to try an egg cooker to see if it would make any difference. IT DID! I am so shocked at how easily my eggs now peel. The process could not be any easier. Pour in the right amount of water using the supplied measuring cup; place the eggs in the cooker; turn it on and wait (+- 20minutes). It even beeps to let you know when they are done. Place the eggs in an ice bath and then peel. Perfect! This egg cooker can cook 1-14 eggs at a time. It also comes with accessories for making omelets, poached eggs, and steaming vegetables. (I have not tried these yet.) To clean I pour in a little vinegar while it is still warm, rinse, and it is good as new. I have been using it for eight months once or twice a week. It is convenient, user friendly, and a time saver. Worth every penny!

Fresh laid eggs & the shell peels off smooth!
No more butchering of hard boiled eggs, with this space saver Farm wife gadgetry. Hard boiled eggs become Dreamy smooth No matter how Fresh! The blue egg in the photos, was laid 4 days ago. Even my 1 day old eggs peel beautiful easy. No chunks or pitting of the egg whites. I highly recommend getting yourself one. I've been using ours every few days since I bought it a few months back. Durable. Fast. Nice appearance. Easy to wash and super handy for anyone who loves eating eggs yet hates the egg peel roulette. It's about 20 or so minutes if doing the 14 eggs. Doesn't make noise while steaming. Once it beeps I immediately transfer to a paper plate or counter to cool for 1 hour. Other times I would put in fridge for 30 minutes. Wipe out the metal plate after it cools a little, between every steaming. Easy to hand-wash the lid, egg racks and the stack rim. I keep it on my counter top since it is used every few days. I send my husband off to work with 4 eggs in his lunch everyday. He loves how easy they are to peel too. Those of us with FRESH LAID EGGS know the woes of trying to peel these gems if hard boiled within the first day to weeks of laying. The key is also to let them sit for 30 to 60 minutes out of the machine and allow the whites to shrink back down after their steaming. Huge difference. No more boiling eggs and pray they don't pit or crack etc. I've been telling everyone this is the best unit and most reliable for hard boiled eggs that peel easy and beautiful. It's affordable. Useful and tou won't regret adding it to your kitchen or work space.

Cook eggs pretty well
Works pretty well. Takes time to figure out how long to cook the eggs. The water cup is makes for how much water to use for the number of eggs you are cooking. Eggs don’t peal as easily as when cooked in our pressure cooker.

Trial and error
After many years of egg cookers, I expected the pokie thing at the bottom of the water cup. This doesn’t have it. I tried 14 eggs with no prep. I didn’t realize that water measurements are on both sides of the water cup, so put two measurements of water for 7 eggs in the cooker. They were overdone and did not peel easily. My next try, I poked the eggs and used the minuscule amount of water specified for 14 eggs. They were slightly undercooked and still did not peel easily. My next attempt to cook 14 eggs, I filled the water cup to the top line and set my oven timer for 23 minutes. Thanks to someone for that tip! So far, these are cooked perfectly and peel as they should. My first 2 tries I put the hot eggs in cold water after cooking. I never did that before. This last cooking adventure I just put them on a plate to cool down naturally for an hour as I always do. It was my last straw with this cooker. I bought a replacement but will keep using this one if the eggs continue to be good. I’ve only eaten 2…

I'm so happy I was wrong!
I have been steaming eggs for 30 years. I was raised and taught that we boil eggs by putting them in cold water, then bringing the water to a boil. Later, someone told me that steaming eggs would do 2 things. 1. Stop the yolks from becoming discolored. 2. Makes the shell easier to peel when they are cold. So I started steaming my "hard-boiled eggs" and have been doing so for almost 30 years. Last week, this little gadget popped up on my Amazon page for $20. I know the Hamilton Beach brand and have a few of their items in my kitchen. BUT...I was still skeptical about this machine. I know how to steam eggs; its not a difficult process - but there's no way this little (I was shocked at how small it is) machine was going to hard boil 14 eggs. This little steamer is essentially just a concave hot plate that holds a small amount of water. I followed the directions for steaming the eggs. According to the directions that are included, it should take about 18 minutes to hard boil 7 eggs. Because I was steaming double that, I added an extra 2 minutes to the countdown. The way the machine works is simple - Add water to the hot plate, it boils the water off into steam. When the water is all gone, the plate gets too hot tripping the shutoff alert. There is a little measuring cup that is marked for how much water you will need to cook your desired style of eggs (Poached, Omelette, Hard, Medium, or Soft-boiled) Unfortunately, I think they screwed up the measurements because if you want them hard-boiled like I do, you should want more water in the pan, not less. This little measuring cup is my only legitimate gripe about the machine. I'm very happy I was wrong. I love the fact that I can now steam a dozen eggs on my countertop and not have to use the stove when it's already 90f deg in the house. I will post updates as I test the poached and, omelette settings. In conclusion: For hard-boiled eggs, normally I steam 6-8 eggs for 12 minutes in a steamer basket on the stove. This little gadget steamed 14 eggs for 20 min before I turned off the hotplate and put the steamed eggs into ice-cold water to shock them and stop the cooking. I just ate 2 of the eggs and they look fantastic. They peeled relatively easy, and the yolks were NOT discolored at all. Both yolks were cooked all the through, and I'm glad I've now added this to my kitchen.
