This is the best gel for my thick, curly hair - I got a new cut because this gel controls the frizz so well! It’s been completely life-changing! They better never discontinue it or I’m screwed!

OK, I have to take the time to write this review because this stuff is that good. I have tried 6742 different products to try to make my curls look nice and shiny and healthy and not frizzy. Not until I accidentally used the curl Smith in shower on my hair. I didn’t realize it was a gel first of all. I thought it was a curling cream. I shampooed my hair, conditioned, put this on, plopped my hair for about 15 minutes took it out scrunched my hair up and let it dry naturally. Few hours later my hair was as hard as a rock. It was so stiff. I was really concerned. But I scrunched the crunch out and I’ve NEVER…..been so happy. Beautiful shiny healthy curls. I can’t say enough about this product.

I have wavy/curly, chin length hair that is thick yet easily weighed down by oils due to low porosity. I was tempted to try this due to the in simplicity of in shower application. I only used a quarter sized amount for my whole head and the cast was heavy with zero frizz. I was afraid it would be too heavy but after I broke the cast my hair didn’t feel weighed down at all. I lost a little volume probably due to the fact that I didn’t towel dry my hair at all. On day 2 my how looks and feels pretty good. Next time I’ll use a little more product and squeeze out excess water first so my hair dries faster and has more curl. Overall this worked better than expected although not as good as my usual routine which is olaplex #3 and 6 on towel dried hair. But I like that this is a silicone free option and I will try it more. This is definitely my best experience with a gel. The smells of curlsmith products are like flintstone kid vitamins it’s so strange haha. It not bad just a powdery fruity smell. Doesn’t longer on head or bother me but it’s odd. Welp olaplex smells like Hawaiian Punch. Idk why brands choose these bizarre scents for their products.

I apply this to my wet hair and let it air dry and my curls always turn out perfect. You can scrunch your hair to get rid of the crunchiness and you’re left with shiny, hydrated curls. This product is gold to me. Worth the price and doesn’t leave a greasy residue which is a must for me.

I am very happy with the Curlsmith in-shower style fixer. I now buy it regularly. After I am done washing my hair, I turn the water off, put in my leave-in, then the Curlsmith in-shower style fixer before leaving the shower space. This gel gives me a nice cast, yet it breaks up easily. Most importantly, it keeps my 2C/3A curls from getting frizzy and last for a good five days. It does not create fake dandruff either (something I hate with some other hair gels).

Ugh... I had high hopes for this gel, but after using it a couple times, it's just destroying my hair. It definitely has a lot of hold - even adding water to it left my hair brittle. But it seems to be stripping my hair of all softness. I'm going to have to go back to using something else.

My 2C/3A-B curls loooooove Curlsmith products. I can't believe I'm just now discovering this. I prefer the unscented version more, but honestly, this version's scent is not that overpowering as some make it out to be. I don't know if I got lucky, but I am pretty sensitive to artificial fragrances, but this scent did not trigger a headache for me, so I am relieved. The hold is awesome. I could do a very lazy job in the shower, but my curls still come out looking defined and great! I will be sticking to this brand for as long as they keep making it.
