Easy to apply to the wall, works well! I’ve used chalk markers and regular chalk and they both write smoothly. I would recommend getting different chalk than it comes with, but it works well enough. Great addition to our homeschool area!

I'm not sure what the blackboard surface is made of, but it feels like plastic and has a pebble texture. It doesn't take my pastel chalk or white charcoal pencils very well. Regular chalk works but doesn't erase well, even though I primed the board. Colored chalk erases poorly. Sidewalk chalk seems to work the best but is too big for this board. I've had MUCH better blackboard surfaces on those tiny signs (table placeholder size) you can get for a dollar. Also, the black edges of the board are starting to wear with a handful of uses, so I expect the surface to have a very limited lifetime.

Nice thin chalk board surface with rounded edges. Works well with chalk markers. Use this board to write the date down and put a little picture for my patient daily. She really enjoys the pictures and puns I write for her. Anyway, the board really helps make a nice moment in each day for my patient and that's something worthy to note.
