Soooo, I came home from a week traveling and found fruit flies hanging around some dishes I didn't clean before leaving town (I know gross right?!?). I was disgusted and researched home DIY solutions as well as researched Amazon and settled on this item because it was cheap and was eligible for one day shipping. I received them early the next day and immediately put them in place and no joke they started trapping flies instantly. Be careful when opening the bait/juice packs because they are VERY full and I spilled some after trying to cut open the edge like a ketchup packet. I ended up cutting off the entire top with scissors and dumping the liquid bait in the trap which was easy to do. The bait seemed like basic apple cider vinegar yet seemed to have something added to it to make it extra potent smelling because it was strong but in a good way and it wasn't hard on my nostrils at all. The bait must have had something slippery added to it too because the flies didn't come out once they went in, this would be similar to how DIY traps suggested adding dish soap to apple cider vinegar. OH I ALMOST FORGOT, I did 3 DIY traps at the same time using small dishes that I poured in red wine and covered them with saran wrap and a rubber band to hold the Saran Wrap on and then I poked small holes in it. I did 3 of them of different sizes and added dish soap in one to see what worked best and they did catch a couple flies after leaving them on the counter overnight but they were no match at all for this real trap. The DIY traps caught maybe 5 total between all 3 traps and this real trap caught 15-20 instantly and solved the problem where the DIY traps would not have solved the problem 100% by themselves. Considering the low cost, purpose built design, and high performance I would definitely recommend these traps to anyone. They did such a good job I didn't even have to use all of the bait so I am prepared if I ever have this happen again since these traps are reusable and I have 2 of the 4 bait packets remaining. Great buy, don't hesitate or waste time trying DIY traps just get these and be done with the problem!!

These work!!! I literally never write reviews, but I feel I have to post my first one for this product. For any of you out there debating which trap would be the best for fruit flies, this is it. We had an ungodly amount of fruit flies in our house for almost a month and did the most suggested home remedies (apple cider vinegar, funnel trap, bleach solution for the drains/garbage disposal, cleaning everything top to bottom) with no success. They were getting so out of hand and I felt disgusting that they weren't going away. After reading reviews for the various options, I decided to try these (since the price was right and there were a couple reviewers that sounded adamant that these were the solution). In less than one week of putting these out, ALL of the fruit flies were gone. To give you a visual (I meant to take a picture before I disposed all the flies that the traps caught) there were over 100 flies in each trap - we had one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom by the sinks. I couldn't believe it. And I know a couple people mentioned that the liquid that these come with smells like just apple cider vinegar, but I had my own apple cider vinegar trap right next to this one and mine caught TWO flies after being out for 2 weeks. These caught HUNDREDS in a couple days!! I'm convinced they have a special chemical (which I know some people would care more about) but it works!!! Long story short, these truly work. Give them a whirl and I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm honestly shocked at the negative reviews because of my successful experience. I will be buying these again if the flies ever come back, but we haven't had one since we've gotten these. Happy customer! :) :) :)

I purchased this Fruit Fly Trap after reading the reviews. Many of the reviews I'd read stated that the trap worked adequately. So, I thought I'd give it a shot. When it arrived I noticed that there were two small traps and a 60 day supply of two tablespoon full packets of Fruit Fly Attractor solution. (5 small packets) Using them was easy, just pull the cover of trap off its' holder and empty the Fruit fly Attactor Solution, which happened to be plain Apple Cider Vinegar into the holder replace the cover. Simple enough, right? So, I sat my traps in the problem areas of my home and waited two days for it to work and NOTHING HAPPENED!!!!! Not one fruit fly in either trap! Don't waste your money this trap is useless. It only got one star because it was easy to put together.

So you've got fruit flies. Its the summer months, and those things are floating around - bouncing off your face and landing in your cup of coffee. Its annoying, but not so much to call an exterminator or anything. So you go onto Amazon, type in 'fruit fly trap' and find this. Chances are you've already seen and/or tried the apple cider vinegar in a bowl trick, but with less than satisfying results. So you're here, looking for something that might just give you the edge. The reason why so many fruit fly killer products on Amazon have poor reviews is that no one singular thing is going to work for everyone. There's just too many factors surrounding each person's home to decide if these little things actually work. As well there is also the false promises that any of these traps will get rid of 100% of fruit flies. (none will, but you can decrease their count to be non-noticeable). I do recommend these little plastic traps for two reasons; they aren't as noticeable or aggressively redneck looking as a bowl of apple cider vinegar sitting out on the table - and they are effective traps, provided you keep their working conditions ideal. This is how you save yourself from being let down with these traps. Once you've used up their 'bait tubes', don't buy any more. You know, I know, we all know they are just apple cider vinegar (That's why this review is only 4 stars). Go out and buy a bottle of ACV and neutral soap and you'll have a yearly supply. I do recommended organic apple cider vinegar, and while I cant prove it works better than the regular stuff for everyone, I have had slightly better success with the organic ones. Next, keeping fruit flies at bay is a lifestyle change. I'm sorry to everyone who thinks there is a silver bullet here, I was once as bright eyed as you too, but they are simply too pervasive to reduce and eradicate without some kind of habitual practices put into place. Namely- taking the trash out more frequently, having a trash bin with a lid, keeping dishes free from the sink, and dry and put up clean dishes quickly. Keeping a rubber sink stopper works in my case, which I just remove when doing dishes or otherwise using the sink. Keeping your kitchen in general tidiness, and keeping fruits and veggies in the fridge. Yes I know a good fruit bowl looks great, but just buy the plastic ones, the only person who will actually notice is your mother in law, and who cares what she thinks honestly. For the first week or so, I kept these traps out in the wide open to give them as much range as possible. After their numbers were reduced to an acceptable level, I placed them in more inconspicuous places, so it didn't look like I had little old school police car lights sitting around my house everywhere. Good luck, whoever you are with the fruit fly problem. These won't save you entirely, but they are a good start.

Let me just start this by saying that I am a horrible skeptic of most ANYTHING I buy online. I have been burned in the past by consumer products with mixed reviews such as this. That is why I was so apprehensive to purchase, at first. Back in April/May, I started noticing fruit flies in my family's kitchen. Within in a month, they were practically everywhere in the house! It got to the point where we seeing them every 30 seconds, and I alone averaged killing about 20 fruit flies nearly every day--- I was having trouble sleeping, because they'd buzz in my ears at night. I didn't want to eat in the house, because they would fly around/land on everything. So, after reading countless reviews and scouring Amazon for similar products, I took a chance on this one... AND I AM HAPPY I DID! I first bought the two-pack, and placed each (as instructed) six feet apart in the kitchen (the epicenter). I obsessively checked the traps throughout the day, but didn't see any casualties. I was disheartened after the second day, too, because one trap caught only one fruit fly. But then, on the third day, the tides had started changing. It wasn't anything drastic, mind you, but both traps had caught at least 6-8 fruit flies each! I was overjoyed to have something to alleviate some of the stress, and so I bought another two-pack, and placed them elsewhere in the house. Placement, I guess, is key, because three of the traps worked really well and caught about 8-10 each, but one caught only a single fly. Even after refilling the solution, the traps continued to work well. I've now only noticed maybe one or two fruit flies a day, and it has been around 2 weeks we've had the traps set out. I don't want to be too optimistic here, because the fruit flies could just be waiting to hatch again... TL;DR these traps DO work. I was highly skeptical that they WOULD work, but I have since been proven wrong. *UPDATE* The day after I wrote this review, and even having four of these traps in our home, there are still quite a few fruit flies buzzing around. So, long story short: YES, these traps do work. Are they a miracle cure?: NO. *UPDATE #2* Instead of buying the refillable attractant, we tried another method many others have recommended: APPLE CIDER VINEGAR. Lo and behold, it works just as well (if not better!). WIth the existing four traps we have, we fill each up about 1/2 of the way with apple cider vinegar (sold in most grocery stores), and then we add a few drops of regular liquid dish soap... and voila--- each trap has caught between 8-20 FRUIT FLIES!!!
