Educational Insights Nancy B's Science Club Bug Discovery Lab: Kids Outdoor Toys, Collect & Study Bugs, Includes Pit Trap & Bug Catcher, Ages 8+

Due to a miscommunication, my husband and I both ordered this for our 3 year old son’s birthday this summer, so I put one away to gift later for Christmas. Since receiving this set, our son has gone bug crazy! He has become a roly poly expert, and has also examined many ants, caterpillars, and he had a pet pickleworm (we found in a cucumber from our garden) living in his bug box for awhile. He loves to take the bug box in the backyard, to the park and Arboretum, and on walks — usually remembering it on his own. Sometimes we take the smaller pink/purple one only (he’s had an entire family of pill bugs in that one before) and sometimes the big box (we haven’t really used the small yellow one much). He uses this bug set so much, that this past week when we took our new-to-us camper out for the first time, I actually gave him the 2nd set to keep in the camper! It is a really nice quality set, holds up well, and is sized-well (not too big and not too small). Highly recommended!

We bought these two years ago and they never broke-just got scratched from tons of use. We just bought them again because we love them so much! The small catcher with the purple lid makes catching bugs simple and keeps you from harming the bug-like a jar and a piece of paper but more sturdy. The magnifier is great to see the smaller bugs up close.

This is an extremely good toy/educational gift. I have 2 sons who both find this absolutely amazing. They are on the younger side but I think a child would enjoy a gift like this up until teens! This comes with a booklet where kids can journal there findings and explore the insects around them. There 2 types of bugs "traps" that they can get insects with. The traps do not harm the insects, which is a big rule for my boys to play with bugs.

The plastic was a bit flimsier than I would have liked, but the recipient really enjoys it and it's help up.

Its smallish but It’s perfect for the curious child. My son Loves catching different bugs and looking at them. He also loves making different “bug houses” for them in this cage; they don’t last very long until he is onto the next one, but it’s very cute and educational for him. Love the little booklet that comes with it. Highly recommend

Bought this for the boys on their adventures, the plastic is so cheap and containers are impossible to open for the kids - they spend more time trying to open or close them, even as an adult I had difficulty - and they feel like they are going to crack at any minute

This is my second purchase of this catcher. It’s by far the best viewing you can have of your bugs. My only complaint is when you have the lid open, the lid is so heavy that it tilts the whole container back. But other than that, it is the best catcher and ours has a horrifying spider in it as I write this.

Pros: three magnifying glasses to see bugs and creatures up close, easy to open/use (3.5yr old), easy to clean/empty Cons: easy for bugs to escape when adding more, opens easy if accidentally dropped, Glue on lid started to fail after 4 months. My 4 yr old son loved this bug barn and how it had three magnifying glasses built into it. It was difficult to add bugs if you already had some in there since the entire top opens. On Numerous occasions my son got very upset when a previous catch escaped. 4 months after purchasing this the clear plastic on the lid has started to come apart from the blue plastic. It is only glued together and it was left outside a number of times which probably caused the issue. This now stays in the car so he has a collection container when we are away from the house.

Hermoso producto, puedes observar a los insectos a través de las lupas que tiene el terrario, sin contar que mi niña salió a un escarabajo moribundo gracias a las instrucciones del libro y estaba muy emocionada. Ojalá algún día lo traduzcan al español, ya que yo le tengo que traducir todo y se pierde la atención, pero aun así le encantó.

My daughter (6)absolutely loves this bug exploration kit. She spends countless hours creating habitats and collecting “specimens” Would highly recommend

Loved this. We have owned many bug catching kits ans this is the best one that lasted the longest out of all the ones we have bought over the years. The magnifying areas are perfect. Easy to use containers from age 3-8
