I have 2 cats in the house that share the same litter. I was originally using silica crystals as my litter because they were supposedly the most effective for odour control. However, it does not do a very good job in properly containing urine and eventually causes the entire litter to be dirty real quick. Plus, crystals may be rough on a cat's paw I was looking for a cost-effective alternative with clumping cat litter. I stumbled upon this product and tested it out. For a multi-cat litter, it was very effective in containing the smell and urine. Basically, I was able to scoop out the waste as effectively as possible, leaving behind less traces. This actually helped keep the litter odor-free and much cleaner. I also did not have to discard as much litter as I did with the crystals because crystals can't clump urine (you will need to remove a lot of urine-stained litter). Overall, a good clumping litter. One small disadvantage though is the dust. But actually, it was only dusty when pouring the clumping litter onto the box, and the dust subsides quite quickly. It does not track much, I see a small trail of dirt but usually very close to the litter. I don't see any clumps on my cat's paw so far (and they are long-haired cats). I still prefer this dust over dust from the silica crystals. Dust from silica crystals is more irritating and uncomfortable if inhaled or come near the eyes (of yours and the cat's).
