A Complete French Grammar for Reference and Practice

I like this book and it's helped me a lot with my French studies. But why on earth would you not include an answer key or at least make them available online? It's nice that there are so many practice exercises, but it's kinda tough not being able to check your work. However, I contacted the author and she provided the answer key to me the very next day, so I've bumped my review up to 5 stars, because it really is an excellent reference.It is very complete, and well organized reference and the explanations are easy to understand. It flows nicely along with my college French course and I highly recommend it.

The book is simply the best overall treatment of French grammar I know of and I have taught French for over 50 years. The group I teach calls this one “the Trudie” with some affection!

My professor is actually the author of this book. She is an extremely delightful woman and her personality comes through in this book on grammar. It has been a great tool for learning French!

Great book, in good condition and quick delivery!

The Kindle version is totally unusable, mainly because the index does not link to any locations or pages! Grammar is a complicated subject, with lots of little French expressions and words that have a multitude of rules and exceptions. If I - the person who needs a grammar book - don't already know what specific part of speech the word is - and I don't - so that I can look it up the general category it will fall under in the Table of Contents, there is NO WAY TO LOOK IT UP in the book! The things I needed to review were all listed in the Index, where I would expect them to be, but without a link to a page, or any reference to a page number or location (and there are none), the Index is absolutely useless. So I here I have a nice, comprehensive grammar book that allows me no way to look up the content that I need! Hugely frustrating. I returned the Kindle version and will buy the print book.

I was gifted this book by one of my friends who was visiting India from US. It has all the grammar ingredients necessary to learn a language. I was pleased with the fine nuances the author has taken care of while writing the book. The exercises are of great help in learning the structure. I have thoroughly enjoyed her book "French Verbs and Tenses" in the Practice Makes Perfect French series which is available in India.I would also like to gain the answer key to the the exercises given in the Grammar book. Nothing I could possibly write about this book would do it any justice. Just to name a few things which truly impressed me:- Incredibly comprehensive (however, the level of detail is manageable for intermediate French learners, not overly academic)- Clear and concise grammar rule explanations- Numerous practical examples of the grammar rules, with side-by-side English translations- Range of topics/ examples reflects the most confusing aspects of French grammar to English speakers- Excellent content organization and graphical layout- Good selection of relevant exercisesBased on the above, this book has been immensely helpful during my personal "language learning journey".If I have to be only a tiny bit critical, it would have been nice to already have the answer key for the exercise section included as part of the book. However, as others have already pointed out, it should not be too difficult to obtain this separately as a PDF file.

This is quite simply the best French grammar book I have read. The explanations are detailed and straightforward. The layout is logical and easy to navigate. There are also numerous practice exercises following each significant point. At least for me, it is stunningly good. It doesn't just tell what to do but also how to do it.

No kidding, this is the MOST COMPLETE French Grammar you can buy, and it is never boring or technical. Each Chapter concentrates on a single topic, which is then covered to exhaustion, with large numbers of exercises sprinkled throughout. You can read the Chapters independently of each other, in the order of interest or need.The Author is willing to provide solutions to all exercises (if you ask nicely). GREAT FOR SELF-LEARNERS.Deserves 10 stars. Highly recommended !!!
